You'll have the entire ground floor, a two-room suite with large window views of Mt. Hood & the Columbia River. Windsurfers, kiters & sailboats zip across the river right below your hot tub & patio. The bedroom has a TV & comfortable queen bed. The TV room has a gas fireplace & 46-inch TV. Our food prep area has a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and fridge. It does not have a sink or stove. White Salmon is 3/4 mile away and Hood River is 10 min. away, directly across the river. We are on the bluff with a gorgeous, big view of Mt. Hood and the Hood River Valley. Enjoy the view during the day and the lights of the city, along with the stars and moonlight on the river at night. You'll have the private use of the downstairs suite including a large bedroom, bathroom and a TV room with a gas fireplace. You'll find a toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker in the TV room as well as a small refrigerator. There is an outdoor shower for your use (except during freezing weather) before or after the hot tub. The best view in the Gorge is with a picnic on the patio with the Columbia and Mt. Hood spread out in front of you. We have lived in The Hood River area for almost 20 years so we are happy to chat with you about the area. You will have exclusive use of the downstairs area and the patio with the hot tub. We are fully vaccinated and we want to host vaccinated guests as well. We are 3/4 mile from White Salmon and just across the bridge from Hood River. Everybody's Brewing, a great brew pub and casual restaurant, and Feast, a deli and restaurant, both have outdoor tables with great views of Mt Hood. Looking for a more upscale dinner? Try Henni's for drinks and dinner. Pixan is our favorite, with upscale tacos, flights of salsas and great guacamole. Breakfast? The incredible White Salmon Bakery with its wood fired oven makes great breakfasts and lunches as well as coffee, open 8 am to 3 pm. They are closed Monday during the day and Tuesdays. Monday nights they are open from 4 pm on for pizza. The North Shore Cafe is also great for breakfast and coffee. They are open every day. There are several brew pubs and more than 35 restaurants in Hood River, only 10 minutes across the bridge. There are also 30 wineries and 45 vineyards in the area. Columbia Gorge Wine has a web site. Interested in hiking? NW Hiker has a web site with lots of suggestions on where to hike by month and photos. Not every location is in the Gorge, but many are. Also Friends of the Gorge has many suggestions. Both sites have gorgeous photos. There are about 35 waterfalls in the area, some for hikers and some along the historic highway where one can literally drive by the base of the falls. Another hidden highlight is WAAAM, the Western Antique Air and Auto Museum. They have the largest collection of still-flying and still-driving antique aeroplanes and automobiles in the country... also motorcycles. On the second Saturday of each month, from 10 am to 2 pm, they take some of them out for a spin. If you are coming from out of state, a great resource for planning your trip is the Travel Oregon web site. They have lots of information, photos and ideas that sound great to local people too. Come and enjoy! The bridge from Hood River to White Salmon has just increased its toll to $2 each way. If you are coming from Eastern Oregon, you can cross the Columbia River at the dam at The Dalles to avoid the toll. From the Portland area, you can cross the Columbia at #205 and come to White Salmon on Washington Highway 14. Highway 14 has great views and rock tunnels. The town of Stevenson, to the west, has some great lunch spots. Also fun, a hike up Beacon Rock! The patio and walkway are located near a cliff which is not fenced. This area is not appropriate for children or people with balance problems or anyone who has been drinking a fair bit of alcohol. We have never had any difficulty but we want everyone to stay safe. The bridge toll went up to $3.50 each way Sept. 1, 2023. (They are trying to finance a new bridge.) If you plan on staying a while and want to open an account with the Port of Hood River, the fare is $1.50 each way with a transponder. There are more than a dozen restaurants, wine bars on the north side of the river so we find plenty to enjoy here. There are also dozens of hiking trails. If you are coming from the east on Highway 84, you can cross the river for free at the bridge in The Dalles.
