Chateau Mont Joly B&B: "Vignes" 2 bed family suite

An elegant 19th century chateau, set in its own vineyards and beautifully restored by its English owners. Its breathtaking views over the Pyrenees, along with extensive 11 hectares of gardens, woodland and vineyards as well as a heated pool make for a perfect escape. The space We came to this part of the Pyrenees on holiday in July 2008, and never went back to London. There is a magical quality of relaxation, escape, nature and joy about Mont Joly that enchants and makes one never want to leave. We enjoy sharing our home with like minded souls for a short period every summer. While providing total peace and privacy, Chateau Mont Joly is only 15 minutes from the historic city of Pau. We offer four double bedrooms, with unique features, top quality beds and stunning mountain views. "Les Vignes" is ideal for families with up to 3 (well behaved) children or for two couples travelling together. The two rooms can be shut off from the rest of the rest of the chateau and have interconnecting doors for complete privacy and cross ventilation. Your 'wing' on our second floor comprises two huge bedrooms, each with a superking bed (which can both be made up as singles). One bedroom has a beautiful fireplace and french balcony overlooking the mountains. The second overlooks the vines and its double aspect windows offer wonderful sunset views. The 'sunset' room has a brand new ensuite shower room. The Vignes room has a private shower room and separate WC that are situated off the gym across the corridor. All linen and pool towels are provided. The 'sunset' bedroom is available at additional cost of €60 per person, with 2 single beds and a sofa bed. Cots are available also on request. The family suite is reserved for parties of 4 or more. If your group is smaller, please look at our other rooms, "Four Poster", "La Tour" suite, and "Les Oiseaux", or send a request for clarification before booking. thank you Guest access There are numerous places in the grounds for sports (football, badminton, boules etc.) or to find a secluded spot by the pool, campfire or in the zen garden. Guests are welcome to use all outside space including the pool, covered terrace and all seating areas, campfire and gazebo. We observe a 'sieste' for the comfort of all, so ask that the pool is not used between 12 and 2 PM and that young children are accompanied at all times. The meditation/yoga room is available on request. The hot tub can be used on request with additional costs. We have an extensive array of toys, books (in English and French), pool toys and games for children and adults of all ages, which we request are enjoyed with care. Baby equipment is available on request. We kindly ask that these shared spaces are left in the condition you found them and any problems are reported to us at once. Other things to note summer 2026 update: If you are concerned about the heat and wildfires currently affecting SW France, and we all support the efforts of the communities and firefighters and greatly sympathise with the residents in affected areas, please be reassured that Pau is not affected. We are 3 hours drive away from Bordeaux, Pau is placed in a non at risk category and was even quoted in the Times as being ‘safe’. The air quality is good. Our chateau’s thick walls means it remains cooler in many parts of the house and we have fans in all rooms and a portable aircon unit in the tower room when it gets too toasty. Our elevation means it normally drops to a comfortable temperature at night. Recent guests have enjoyed the pool and shady areas of the garden. Use of the pool and our estate is at your own risk, please supervise non swimmers and young children at all times and be considerate of our and other guests' need for relaxation. Pets - due to our own animals we are sorry not to allow four footed guests. Our animals mainly stay outside but have access to the hall. We aim to offer a unique and authentic experience in our family home and are proud not to be a hotel. For this reason, we like to have an email exchange with our guests prior to arrival and do not have instant booking.
