Hills O'Sharon Cabin in the Woods
Our 2-story log cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) provides plenty of outdoor refreshment with a spacious front porch and back deck with a dual gas/charcoal grill, balcony, wooden swing, and a firepit with plenty of cut firewood. It sits within a private holler on 105 acres along the edge of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The rustic-chic decor inside combines antique furnishings, repurposed barn wood paneling, unique lighting, electric fireplace, and a claw-footed tub amidst modern conveniences. Our dream cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) includes repurposed barn wood from two barns that Shawn dismantled in IN. The location is close to many outdoor activities including ATV and horse trails close by and a 20-minute drive to the artisan town of Berea. Day trips of under an hour or within two hours brings you to the beauty of Kentucky, “heaven on earth,” as described by Daniel Boone himself (The Pinnacles (17 minutes away) to the north, Flat Lick Falls to the East, Lake Cumberland to the South, Red River Gorge, and Natural Bridge to the North East to name a few). If you prefer a quiet get-away, our cabin is in a holler, in the woods, providing privacy in a natural setting. You will have access to the entire cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) and the immediate property. Hiking through the woods on property is allowed. Please note that at this time there are no marked trails on our property. You would be walking through virgin woods. We have recently updated to a remote entry access lock for your check-in convenience. You will be contacted by our co-host, Teresa Powell. She will contact you with your entry code and answer any questions you may have prior to your arrival. Remember to access our Guidebook for information on local restaurants, hiking, outdoor activities, and touring the area. Shawn and Karen wish you a lovely stay at the cabin for you and your loved ones! This is a perfect retreat in the mountains of Kentucky. The cabin is in a private setting and is close to many outdoor retreats as well as the well-known Berean artisan area in Madison county. There is no public transportation, but with our new concrete driveway, access to and from the cabin is easier. Our cabin sits on a hillside within a holler. Use discretion with younger children. Koda the bear is available for pictures, but NO CLIMBING the bear (for your personal safety). There is hand soap provided at each sink and dish detergent as well as dishwasher detergent for your convenience. Please supply your own personal toiletries and laundry soap. The gas grill also has a separate area for charcoal. Please supply your own bag of briquettes.. We provide the coffee, but with a full kitchen, be sure to bring your own groceries and don't forget some steaks for the grill! Visitor's Policy: In order to maintain the beauty of our cabin, daytime visiting guests are limited to up to 4 (depending upon how many registered guests are staying at the cabin). No nonpaying overnight guests are allowed. You must inquire with our co-host before check-in for permission. No firearms whatsoever are allowed on the property or in the cabin without explicit permission from the owners. NO exceptions.
