Description

4 bedroom 2 bathroom historic farmhouse built @1815 but updated with modern amenities. Private and peaceful location in the middle of a 100+ acre working farm, the property is surrounded by hayfields and rolling hills and includes spacious front and back yards. The house includes a front porch, back deck, and fire pit where you can enjoy spectacular views of farmland and the Iron Mountain range, a perfect place to relax and get away from it all. The space Meadowview farmhouse, also known as the Bourne-Hale-Gentry House, was built @1815 and is on the national register of historic places. All 4 bedrooms are upstairs and accessed by two separate staircases. One bedroom has a queen bed, two bedrooms have double beds, and one bedroom has two twin beds. One of the bathrooms is upstairs and includes a tub/shower, toilet, and sink, and the other bathroom is downstairs and includes a shower stall, toilet, and sink. There is a front porch, back deck, grilling deck, fire pit with firewood provided year round, and spacious front and back yards, the perfect place if you enjoy gorgeous views, relaxing outdoors, and observing wildlife. Guest access You will have the entire farmhouse and yards to yourself, but at times pickup trucks and tractors will come up the driveway to access the surrounding pastures and barn. We will respect your privacy but feel free to say hello and observe whatever farm work is being done. Most of the pastures surrounding the farmhouse are hayfields, but occasionally used for grazing cattle. Other things to note Meadowview farmhouse is 15 minutes from Fries, VA, where you can enjoy hiking/biking on the New River Trail and tubing/kayaking on the New River. It is 30 minutes from Galax, VA, home of the Old Time Fiddler's Convention and 1 hour from Grayson Highlands State Park, home of wild ponies and the highest peak in Virginia. It is just minutes away from the Jefferson National Forest where you can enjoy miles of hiking trails and a scenic overlook at Comer’s Rock. Make sure to do your grocery shopping before you arrive as the closest grocery store is 30 minutes away!
