This mid-century modern post and beam house is at the top of a hill in a quiet neighborhood with mountain and city views from all rooms. This is a property for the vintage and architecture enthusiast with restored original finishes. Though the kitchen has modern appliances the design and amenities of the home feel like you stepped back into the 1960s. We are on the border of the Eagle Rock and Highland Park neighborhoods and just a 15-minute drive to downtown LA or 10 minutes to the Rose Bowl. The space From the pool and spa the view to the South is Mount Washington to the Catalina Islands. The living room and main bedroom feature walls of glass above Eagle Rock and the San Gabriel mountains. The design philosophy was to restore when possible and to replace when needed with higher end finishes that would have been available when the house was built. Cook in the fully equipped kitchen with a Thermador oven and stove, LG fridge with filtered water and ice dispenser and yes there's a dishwasher. There's also a pool/drink fridge in the garage. Enjoy your morning espresso or french press in the cozy breakfast nook or front patio right off the kitchen. New flooring has been installed with oak hardwood throughout the house and poured Terrazzo in the bathrooms. All the bedrooms have blackout roller blinds and comfy memory foam mattresses with all cotton linens. The bathrooms feature original tile and Formica counter tops with new vintage style fixtures. The 20' x 15' pool has a 12’ deep end and has been re-plastered and tiled and the deck furniture is retro pink. Pool heating is optional and heated to 90 degrees which is warmer than most vacation rentals and very comfortable in winter. Pool heat is $150 for the first day and $75 for each consecutive day with a two day minimum. Please put the cover on at night to keep the temperature up or it will be cold in the morning even with the heat on. Pool heat is recommended November-April. The natural gas BBQ is ready to go and spa heat is included and you just flip a switch to heat up in minutes for soaking while enjoying the sunset sky. There's Netflix in the Lounge room and a smart TV in the master and an Apple Home Pod for music. The charming original low voltage energy efficient light switches have been refurbished. We hope you enjoy all the lighting from Bitossi to Tom Dixon controlled though the wall switches. There’s a loungey Minotti Italian sofa and iconic Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin chairs in the living room with the original rock wall gas fireplace. Nostalgic and modern-you get it.
