The space Our serene 13 acre Green Hill Springs Retreat is totally private--you are our only guests. Just steps from your front porch: a small spring-fed lake for swimming & floating (kayaks & intertubes included), a sitting area on the dock, lake-side adirondack chairs & campfire pit, a stream & waterfall with picnic table & campfire pit, a hot tub, a zipline, hammock, & foosball. A 5-10 min hike through our native meadows and forest takes you to a small cabin for yoga/art/journaling/loft sleepovers. Snuggle with our farm animals, and/or bring your own dog(s) to enjoy our 1 acre fenced in area around the lake! Also, within the Appalachian & Blue Ridge mountains, there's so so much to do! You will have a private, locked entrance to a restored 1880's 2 bedroom, 2 bath, living/dining/kitchen wing of our large farmhouse, completely separate, quiet, and locked from our living space. We are empty-nesters that live here; you may or may not see us tending to the farm animals or gardens. We enjoyed raising our kids on this property, in the "wilds" of Virginia, and enjoy offering this as a retreat for your family/friends now. We host parents who are here to visit their college kids, and many single or dual families, friends-weekends or romantic get-aways. We are a short drive (5-15 min) to convenience stores, quaint downtown shops, restaurants, live music & JMU/EMU. 30 min will take you to Shenandoah National Park (amazing hikes, waterfalls, mountain views,) over 50 vineyards & breweries, river trips, water parks, mountain hikes and so so much more. Your space includes: 1) Private entrance & front porch with rocking chairs and a hot tub. 2) Main level living/dining/kitchen with couch, large dining table for eight, tv, full bathroom with garden tub/shower. 3) Upstairs bedroom with two beds: a queen and a full bed, a book-nook with loveseat and a desk. 4) Upstairs bedroom with Queen bed, and sitting area. (The three beds are all "Doctors Choice" and are new and very comfortable.) 5) Upstairs full bathroom. 7) Various outdoor sitting areas by the lake & stream. 8) The tiny cabin (5-10 min hike from your living area): a table/chairs, recliner, yoga mat, and ladder to a loft/mattress for naps/sleeping--super fun/cozy but not much headroom. If you plan on sleeping here bring sleeping bags and keep in mind there is electricity but no running water or toilet in the cabin. The farmhouse beds comfortably sleep six adults; the loveseat in the book nook in the upstairs bedroom comfortably sleeps a child, and the couch in the living area comfortably sleeps another adult/teen/child. We invite you to use our washer/dryer if your stay is 4+ nights. Note that in summer 2026 we have renovated our airbnb from a three bedroom with kitchenette, to a two bedroom with full kitchen, living and dining spaces--the photos do not yet reflect this but will be coming soon! Our solar-powered working hobby farm has sheep, kitties, our sweet dog Maya, and chickens! Gather fresh eggs and forage over 30 edible plants and berries from our property! If our resident great blue heron and bald eagle haven't eaten all our trout, you may also fish them (catch and release--bring your own rod.) We include sustainable products and practices to do our part to care for the earth. Our hope is that your retreat at Green Hill Springs will leave you feeling restored. Guest access Guests have a private entrance and free parking just steps from the house. Uber also runs through our area, Harrisonburg, and other neighboring towns. A small convenience store is within .75 mile/10 minute walk. Other things to note Well-behaved dogs (up to 2) are welcome! We have a 1 acre fenced in area around our lake for them to be unleashed, swim, run, etc. Please do not let their muddy paws on our beds as this is a farm that includes a lake/streams--we do however provide a towel for you to clean their paws before coming back in the house after a romp outside :). There is a $40 fee for soiled or ripped linens. Many music festivals are within a short drive during the summer and fall months including Red Wing Roots Festival (25 min drive), FredFest in Singers Glen (within an easy walk or a 2 minute drive), free live music downtown Harrisonburg Wednesday evenings during the summer and at many vineyards & breweries each weekend throughout the year. Many local breweries & vineyards also offer fun evening events like "Singo", Karaoke, and yoga. We are situated directly on several bike routes: the Harrisonburg-Singers Glen loop and the Harris Roubaix loop--be prepared for hills! There are also nearby kayaking tours on the Shenandoah River, two ski resorts within 1/2 hour (Massanutten & Bryce), a waterpark, spa, and more at Massanutten Resort. If you enjoy pickleball, tennis, or disc-golf, there are several places to play within a 10 min drive.
