Description

A New England stopover 10+ min from the Atlantic Coast, restaurants, arts, shops, historical sites, and outdoor explores. Easily en route to MA, ME, VT +. One very small guest room for a solo traveller, separate entrance, private bath, forest facing yard, semi private deck, off road close-by parking, and trails to meander steps from your door. This weathered lived loved home has been in the family since built in 1908. No relation to a hotel room, but clean, comfy, and convenient location. The space ARRIVE A curvy stonewall lined road close to all the amenities, (towns Rye, North Hampton, Hampton, Portsmouth, Kittery, Exeter 5-20 min away), 15 min off the highway, enroute to ME, MA and VT… Park off the road on the lawn along left side the house, traffic cones to guide you, climb 4 steps to roofed deck at the back, and find your little room. (Size 10.5x7.5,’ about 78 sq ft) GUEST ROOM Inside, a twin size single bed with multiple pillows, h allergenic pillow covers, fresh all cotton linens, comforter or quilt… bureau with extra blankets, games, and local info... full size mirror, wooden rocking chair, bench for suitcase or sits, and narrow table with a leaf you can pull up for more surface space... also a mini fridge, microwave, snack and coffee station... extra outlets... fan and space heater... small book selection… and WiFi. Large window and slider door let in natural light and views. It is a pretty quiet neighborhood. ( + walking / biking / driving people on the road, and the dogs may bark at “exciting things.”) Heating is forced air through a floor grate. You have a space heater if you want a boost (and can always request a change in thermostat settings.) Warm weather... The room stays up to 15 degrees cooler in the summer with windows shut, and you can open window / slider too or turn on any fans. There may be an AC window unit for hottest summer months. WC Small and a bit dated, but clean and private galley type bathroom attached to your room. Full bath and shower, your standard loo, large sink, with hand soap, shampoo and fresh towels, hair dryer. OUTDOORS The roofed deck outside your room is yours for the stay, with chairs for relaxing. No neighbor houses in sight line. There is a fire pit nearby, and you can burn free brush from the woods, and logs by $ donation. Deck sights and sounds have included bird song and on deck nests, hummingbird, hawk, owl, deer, coyote, fox, bobcat, groundhog, turkey, bat, bunny, and our elusive outdoor cat. We are also located next to a small public trail system on conservation land that you can walk to and explore. There will be 2 friendly loose in the yard dogs on premises. Let host know of any concerns about arrival and dogs, or limited contact while you are here, for if needed, they can be kept mostly out of your way and in the house. Your one dog, (cat? bird?) for a pet fee of 30, is welcome to join you. (Most guests will receive a $20 return on that deposit, if no issues, or evidence left:) Thank you for considering Seacoast Solo, Happy Trails to you! Guest access Parking, guest room, bathroom, deck, left side yard and partial backyard are yours only, unshared, during your stay. Access to various multiple public and private trail options nearby for walking and biking. (There is no access to the rest of the house, or yard on the other side (next to driveway), = host’s living space). Restaurants and grocery 5-10 min away. 60 flavors of home made ice cream a 5 min drive away (in season :) Small airport, and Bus to Boston and New York, 15 min away. Oh, want to know what beaches you can bring your dog to? Google Seacoast Science Center NH, click on the Visit option in the menu, and scroll down to Dog Friendly beaches near the bottom of the list. Other things to note NOTE 1) #s… One overnight guest only please (you :) Visitors to you are welcome. NOTE 2) sensitive nose… Please be aware that this is an older, all natural wood shingle house, built in 1908 on a field stone foundation with an earth floor cellar. This does help keep the room cooler during hot months, though along with a series of very humid or damp days, the sensitive nose can be bothered. (My niece calls it an “old library smell,” my sister, like most people, says she can’t detect anything. Consider which one might be like you (most who don’t notice anything, or a rare summer few, like my niece), before booking. (We do use a dehumidifier in between guest bookings.) NOTE 3) smoking… There’s no smoking or vaping inside or out on the property please. NOTE 4) dawgs… Yours is welcome! If they are ok with 2 friendly resident dogs occasionally out and about the yard (and often deck.) (Resident dog outside time can be limited if you so request, be sure to let host know if you are wary of dogs.) …There is a pet fee of 30 for your 1 companion, (which may be partially returned to you if no issues :) …Your dog /cat is not allowed on bed or linens please. …You are asked to take pet with you when you go out (unless crated) and to pickup after them outside nearby the house. …Also, as per Airbnb legalities, if you are bringing a service animal, we may ask you about any disabilities and how we can accommodate any specific needs. If you are bringing an emotional support animal, the pet fee does still apply. NOTE 5) spots… In response to a past review, no, the tub is not the crown feature. (Previous house owners stained the walls, there are some drops and chips, but still clean. (That and the window, Next replacements on the list!) NOTE 6) housemates… Dogs and host live in the house attached to your separate room. (You may hear occasional moving about in the house on the other side of the (blocked / locked) door, some creaky stairs, but we are quite quiet, and respectful of your privacy. Oh and, very occasionally, a dog will bark at an outdoor animal in the night. NOTE 7) locks… Your door to the great outdoors does not lock from the outside, but it does lock from the inside. The door between your room and the rest of the house is locked.
