The space Our Victorian home was built in 1901 by a travelling cutlery salesman. He wanted a traditional colonial style house (Colonial homes are usually symmetrical squares or rectangles having at least two stories, and the staircase to the second and third floors usually bisects the home down the center). The salesman's wife desired the more dramatic, romantic Queen Anne style home(Queen Anne features bay windows, wrap around porches, 'decorative excess'). So what to do? They settled by making the downstairs Queen Anne and the upstairs Colonial. The first floor entrance, foyer and parlor are Queen Anne style featuring original pocket doors and beautiful woodwork with a colonial craftsman influence. Upstairs we offer three 'Colonial' rooms with original hardwood floors. Each room has it's own private bath. We invite you to experience all the charm that a small town has to offer. Spending time in Downtown Baraboo is a great way to truly appreciate out space. Conveniently located within walking distance to coffee shops, bars, restaurants, walking paths, great shopping, and more. Devil's Lake is a 5 minute drive and one of many great places to hike in the area. If you need a little more stimulation, Wisconsin Dells is just a 15 minute drive. While we don't allow our guests access to the kitchen, we do have a coffee maker, microwave, and toaster oven for you to use. Each room has a mini-fridge as well. There is a comfortably furnished Parlor with electric fireplace on the first floor for you to enjoy. You will find a variety of board games, puzzles, cards and television for entertainment. This is a shared space and a great place to visit with friends! Guest access Our guest rooms are located in the upstairs front of the house. You have access to the front porch, coffee/snack area, and first floor dining area and the parlor with comfy furnishings, television, electric fireplace, books and games. Headed to concerts on the square or maybe a local park? We have complimentary bag chairs and a well stocked picnic basket you may use. Picnic blankets and beach towels available on request as well. During your stay Pam lives in the back of the house and is happy to visit with you or leave you to your privacy. Let her know if you need anything and feel free to visit if you catch her outside! Other things to note The house is from 1901 and has all original hardwood floors. You will be able to possibly hear other guests coming and going. We have provided fans in the rooms, as well as noise machines and room darkening curtains to help you sleep and relax.
