Somewhere along the way The Birdhouse* was born. *So named by locals due to the lack of a roof and the feathered friends who took up residence for a long while. Furnished with salvaged treasures and comfy beds -- The Birdhouse is a sustainable adventure. After an extensive 5-year renovation and restoration The Birdhouse in Hancock is happily outfitted with a geothermal heating system, energy star rated/energy efficient appliances and fixtures, non-toxic finishes, low-flow faucets, Watersense toilets, restored 100 year-old floors, original moldings, reclaimed doors, and recycled furnishings. There are some good spots to eat, including the Camptons downstairs Some antiquing and a winery nearby. A smokehouse as well, reviewed by Anthony Bourdain. And the beautiful Delaware River is a 5 minute walk. Scenic, hiking nearby. Local food adventures. Please note we are located in a small river village. There is a bus that goes to Hancock, NY. Via car: 2 1/2 hours form NYC via major highways. Great stopover on the NYC to Toronto drive. SUMMER 2020- The Birdhouse is offering weekend suites for $550 per suite for a three night stay.
