Description

The master suite of the house, this corner bedroom has great daylight, while maintaining privacy and mostly quiet. Full bathroom with detachable shower head are favorites. There's a pool in back yard. A super-friendly (therapy) dog and 4yo husky share the house. Driveway parking. Close proximity to several great restaurants, groceries, and buses. Roughly 1.5 mile from downtown and Duke. Safe neighborhood with large park one block away. I've hosted many Airbnb guests and most have been v. happy. The space Queen bed is warm and comfortable. One chair, table, a large dresser, shelves, closet, refrigerator are in the room. One corner of the large closet has house alarm and some small boxes, but it's otherwise empty and clean. Bathroom is modern and clean. Lock on the bedroom door to ensure confidence and privacy. Coffee maker, coffee and accessories, as well as a small refrigerator and microwave are provided in the room for your convenience. Guest access Guests may use living room and kitchen on a limited basis, as that's where I spend most of my "home time" and alone time. Preferably no cooking unless discussed in advance for timing. Laundry is available, as is driveway use and outside decks and pool. I prefer not to spend much time in the same room as guests (for COVID considerations), which the house layout and size generally allows. So planning ahead is crucial, especially if use of kitchen and dining room is desired. If you are traveling with a pet, please note that I prefer no more than one pet per person. And I would prefer that pets remain in the room for most of the time while here. If they want to play with either of my dogs, it would be best to let them all outside. If you have any requests of me with regards to my two dogs, please let me know! There are a washer and dryer in the house for guests to use. HOWEVER (I feel like I should not have to say this, but...), before using either, please let me show you the appliances. If you are staying longer than 2-3 nights, you need to provide your own laundry soap. Both washer and dryer are in a shared space, so you need to be respectful and do not use them late at night or early in the morning. During your stay The house is large enough and arranged in a way that I often do not see guests very often. Privacy and independence are not an issue. As stated above, I prefer not to spend much time in the same room as guests (for COVID considerations), which the house layout and size generally allows. So planning ahead is crucial and required, especially if use of kitchen and dining room is desired. Other things to note There is an alarm system on the house, which I often leave deactivated. The fob attached to your house key has a button to deactivate the alarm and there are instructions IN the room on how to turn it off manually. The dog, Balu, will greet you every time you enter, but she is very friendly and respectful. Never known to bite anyone! Just push her away when you enter and she will leave you alone if you tell her to. Puppy (born January 2021) is Kiki, a Husky, who is learning not to jump on people when they enter (but it's slow learning). In extreme weather, small ants have been known to come into the house. I ask that guests not leave food or crumbs on the floor for this reason. The best way to keep pests from entering the house is not to give them a reason to come! Pet food and sweets, especially, contribute to this problem. Guests will be held responsible in the event of pests being attracted by food. About the pool: It is open for use April through October only (not heated); there will frequently be other guests (neighbors and friends) coming by and they know to share with Airbnb guests; pool is also rented occassionally and will not be available during those hours. I will communicate availability. Basic rules are no glass allowed in the pool area and no one gets hurt! Otherwise, common sense prevails.
