This wonderful home is newly refurbished, new bathroom, fully carpeted, 2 wonderfully comfortable 3 seater leather lounges and 2 recliner rocking chairs to be totally relaxed with your feet up while watching the tv. The outdoor furniture is also supremely comfortable after a long day sightseeing, to relax with a glass of wine and watch all the bush birds come in for their last feed of the day. The galahs and parrots fight and jostle at the birfeeder while the firetails and wrens just wait their turn. The Coombe is a two bedroom modern rammed earth and glass luxury holiday home, a hexagonal design with all the walls slanting away from each other so there is never a box appearance. All rooms enjoying sweeping unsurpassed views over Wilson Inlet and the Nullaki Peninsula through floor to ceiling glazing, a friendly relaxed atmosphere is generated by open plan living and wrap around covered verandas. West lies the Valley of the Giants and Tree Top Walk, north is Mt. Barker with its produce and wineries, wildflowers and the Porongorups, east is the Great Southern centre of historic Albany. Eco-tourism includes seasonal wildflowers, whale watching, bird watching. Whatever your interests, The Coombe is sure to please; perhaps relaxing with a book warming before the Kent Stove, savouring one of Denmark's fine wines at sunset, or just absorbing the fresh clean air, wonderful views and natural serenity from the veranda . Bike trails are nearby, and the Bibbulmun Track is accessed from the bottom of the garden which provides a lovely scenic walk along the Wilson Inlet. In the other direction the Track will take you up the mountain to the lookout of Monkey Rock where there are superb views along the South Coast and Wilson Inlet. The renowned wineries and cafes are a short scenic drive along Mt Shadforth or the historic Scotsdale Road. Ocean Beach is a few minutes drive away, and the superb beaches of Mad Fish Bay, Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks, all with their outcrops of smooth rocks to walk over and just 13 ks along the Walpole Road. Further on is the famous Tree Top Walk, an excellent day trip that takes you through the forest of huge Tingle and old Karri trees. This lovely home is cosy, comfortable and convenient abundantly equipped down to a hairdryer with quality furnishings, crockery, suites of glassware, cutlery and linen. Both en suite bedrooms have a q.s. bed, electric blanket, down doona in winter, cotton doona in summer, bedside lights and a clock radio. They are on opposite sides of the house and very private, The gourmet kitchen has besides the usual oven and cooktop a microwave, wok, electric frypan, rice cooker, food processor and dishwasher plus the glorious view as a meal is prepared. There is a Weber Q barbecue on the verandah. We leave a selection of herbs, spices and dryfood in the pantry for your convenience as well a birdseed for the birdfeeder which attracts a variety of parrots and honeyeaters. The smart and comfortable outdoor furniture on the covered verandah is a delightful place to sip a glass of wine and relax after a day of sightseeing and enjoy the bush and water birds that are in abundance. We leave a large pile of wood under cover to feed the Kent slow combustion heater which warms the house and with the glass front the flickering fire is a delight to watch. There is an excellent library of books, dvds and videos to curl up on the lounges by the fire and read or watch and just let the world go by. We supply the superior Mt. Romance bathroom amenities to both bathrooms, a complimentary jar of homemade Grapefruit marmalade and Spicy Tomato Sambal, and for a stay of 3 nights or more an excellent bottle of Harewood estate wine. We regard the winemaker James Kellie as the best in the Great Southern district. This house richly deserves the 4 star rating awarded by the AAA. The house is well situated to take in all the interesting day trips. The famous surfing Ocean Beach is only minutes away, and just 13 ks along the road to walpole are the wonderful beaches of Mad Fish Bay, Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool all together in the William Bay National Park. These are quiet, safe swimming beaches with white sand and chrystal clear water with the huge outcrops of smoothe rock that stretch from the beach out into the ocean that are fun to walk - or run - over. Further along is Bartholomew's Meadery, The chocolate Factory, and The Toffee Factory that also make cider and "A Bit on the Side" ;preserves and chutneys. The Tree Top Walk is at Walpole and you can begin your day early with a cruise on the Walpole Inlet, an experience the Muir family have made memorable If you like bushwalking the Bibbulmun Track is at the end of the street with several tracks up to the Monkey Rock lookout, or along the Inlet with lovely water views. Along the scenic, historic Scotsdale Road are many renowned wineries and cafes. Scotsdale Road has a gentle incline through the karri trees, it began life as a track for the bulloch teams that pulled the karris to their destination for the first tree fellers. Later is became a railroad, but now is a beautiful bituman drive. Along the way is a cheesemaker and the Alpaca Farm where you can hand feed the Alpacas and all the other little animals there. On the road to Albany, just before the scenic drive turnoff, is "WoodWorks", a display of wood craftsmanship hard to beat. If you take the scenic drive past Cosy Corner and Torbay it is easy to access The Gap, Natural Bridge and the Wind Farm. Back into Albany you come to the Amity, the reconstruction of the ship that brought the first soldiers and settlers to Albany. Then around the stunning coastline to Mr. Clarence, the Forts, Middleton Beach and Oyster Harbour. When back at "The Coombe" it is so lovely and relaxing you will never want to leave.
