The Tumbleweed House

The former art studio of Louis Kollmeyer still holds the artist's charm and creativity but updated for your stay in our rodeo city. Tumbleweed House aims to share with you the creative and western roots of Ellensburg. With multiple sleeping options, this can be a cozy getaway for two, a family retreat or a place to hang with friends. There's a fully outfitted kitchen and a washer/dryer for longer stays. Walking distance to downtown, Rodeo and Fairgrounds, CWU and the hospital. The space The original owner, Louis Kollmeyer only used the space as an artist studio, though it was built as a home. Centrally located near CWU and downtown, but still feels like you are isolated from everything. Most furnishings are new except for a few vintage pieces we saved from Louis. There is an upstairs loft that has a king size bed. Downstairs, you'll find a full bathroom and one queen size bedroom. There is also an additional half-bathroom downstairs and a full kitchen. If the king size bed and queen size bed aren't enough space, we also have a cozy full-size rollout-mattress that works great on the floor in the loft or the living room couch folds flat into a bed as well. There are neighbors to the right of Tumbleweed and we live in the house to the left. Though you will have all of Tumbleweed house to yourself, there are some outdoor spaces where we may cross paths at times. The garage at the front of Tumbleweed is still used as an art studio and home office and there is a workshop behind the house, so you may see us coming and going occasionally during your stay. Details on accessing the lockbox for self check-in will be provided several days prior to your check-in date. Although the listing says "no air conditioning," we actually have a large portable unit in the upstairs loft that does a good job of keeping the entire place cool even on the hottest days. It's not quite the same as "central a/c," but it will keep things comfortable. There is a ceiling fan in the living room area, and portable floor fans in each sleeping area. There is no television, but we do have a turntable and selection of new and vintage records for your entertainment. Dogs must be pre-approved and you must add them to your reservation. We do not allow any other kinds of animals. If you bring a dog that is not listed on your reservation, you will be charged a $50 fee after checkout. No smoking or vaping allowed inside. Guest access We are a short jaunt from the Kittitas County Fairgrounds and have plenty of FREE parking with an adjacent driveway. We're also very close to our historic downtown, the Kittitas Valley Hospital and Central Washington University.
