If you prefer humming city and 4+ star accommodation you might enjoy more staying in one of Wellington hotels. This is reasonably priced bach for people who like outdoors and rural. No public transport nearby (closest bus stop 4km walk over hills) and the nearest shop is about 15km return trip. The access road from the highway (last 5-8minutes) is windy uphill but quite scenic after you pass the quarry.
