Description
Ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts! NOT A PARTY HOUSE! 3 BR 2 bath house located on Verona Island in the Penobscot River just inside the bay. Enjoy a peaceful stay on the water's edge or take day trips to Acadia NP and neighboring port towns like Bar Harbor, Castine, Ellsworth, Camden & Belfast. Mins from Bucksport, Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory, and Fort Knox. 40mins to Mt Desert Island/Acadia National Park entrance. Hot tub. 3 bikes available. Garage. The space Eat your meals while watching passing boats and wildlife on the water. There is a sunroom facing the water, large patio with arbor shade, and sunbathing patio. The master bedroom also has a new waterfront deck as of 2018! The outside dining area has a stone wood-fire grill. There is also an adjacent hot tub house which faces the water. Soak away your hiking aches or just relax and enjoy the view. Books/games available for use (as well as some pamphlets on local activities and hikes). Wireless internet, Smart TV, and DVD player. House contains many antiques- for antique lovers like us. Mattresses are all new and protected - master is Simmons Beautyrest Black with memory foam pillows. Bedding is thinned during summer, but the heat layer blankets and additional blankets are located in closets/dressers if desired (and are layered on the beds during the cold season). Master bedroom has an air conditioning unit if needed. Electric fireplaces in the master, kitchen, dining room and sunroom are available for use during the cool season. Beach towels are stocked. The kitchen has basic dish/utensil/cooking supplies and a lobster pot (you are in Maine, right?!). The laundry room has a washer/dryer, cleaning supplies and rags. 3 bicycles in garage (2 adult/1 child) available for use. Happy to make recommendations for food, fun and outdoor activities. Great area. Friendly, helpful neighbors. Guest access Guests have full access to the house, outdoor areas and hot tub house, as well as one level of the garage. Please be aware that our property ends on one side with a privacy fence and the other side stops at the driveway edge extended down to the water. We ask that you keep your activities within our property boundries. Other things to note This area of the Penobscot has full tide shifts and the current is swift. Swimming here is not safe. Motorized boats use the very deep water access primarily, including cruise ships visiting our area. Canoes and kayaks are not typically recommended due to the swift current- but there are great areas for both paddling and swimming nearby. A public boat launch for those with motorized boats is available a few minutes away on the island (you will pass it coming to the house). At check out, we ask that guests collect any used towels/wash cloths into the laundry basket in the laundry room, wipe tables/counters free of food debris, wash used dishes or load the dishwasher and hit start, and deposit all garbage in the dumpster down the street -as well as make sure all doors and windows are locked. Please leave used beds stripped or turned down so that we can quickly identify which bedding needs washing after your stay. We love our home and we hope you will as well! We are happy to share it with you when we cannot be there ourselves, and ask that you treat it and our neighbors with respect. The property will be cleaned before and after your stay, however guests will be responsible for any excessive cleaning needs as well as any damages. Please notify us as soon as possible if there are any problems or damage so that we can make arrangements for repair quickly and make your (and others') stay as enjoyable as possible. Smoking and pets are prohibited.
