Les Chapelles is a small country hamlet between the historic Roman town of Saintes & the beautiful beaches of Royan. Enjoy a small country estate of 3 properties: The 6 bedroom "Maison de Maitre"; Le Cadran Solaire, a 3 bedroom cottage; and La Cachette, a 2 bedroom apartment. Set in 200 year old buildings, all are luxuriously appointed with all mod cons, outdoor spaces for relaxing and dining with a huge garden, shady children's playroom, table tennis & heated indoor pool with sun deck Spread across three separate units, Les Chapelles is ideally set up for a big family group. The Main House is a tradiational Maison de Maitre. It has 6 bedrooms (4 large doubles, three of which have ensuite shower rooms, and 2 singles). In addition is has a beautiful family bathroom with bath and shower and another separate loo. Downstairs there is a well-equipped family dining kitchen, family room with TV, calm sitting room, utility room and downstairs loo. The wide southfacing terrace has a large table for enjoying al fresco meals and socialising. Le Cadran Solaire (The Sundial) is a stunning renovation of a 200 year old cottage. It has 3 good-sized bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 twin,) 1 shower-room, 1 bathroom, a large kitchen/diner and large separate lounge. One double bedroom and the shower-room are downstairs and accessible by wheelchair users. Le Cadran Solaire also has a private terrace and garden. La Cachette (The Hiding Place) is a first-floor apartment in a renovated 200 year old barn. It has a big kitchen/diner, a separate large lounge, two bedrooms (one double, one twin), a shower room and separate WC. La Cachette also has a private terrace for al fresco dining. All the kitchens feature oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, kettle, toaster, filter coffeemaker and Nespresso machine. The lounges feature English language satellite flatscreen TVs, DVD players and wood burning stoves. With children ourselves, the properties have been designed to be extremely child friendly and we have cots and other equipment available - let us know what you require and we'll see if we can help! We provide all linen and towels (including towels for use by the pool). Outside, Le Cadran Solaire has a large terrace and garden with table, chairs, sun loungers, umbrella and barbecue. La Cachette has a small, very private terrace with table, chairs and an umbrella, with access to a private barbecue in the courtyard. Beyond there is the 3 acre garden, shady children's playroom, table tennis, bikes in a variety of sizes and the stunning heated indoor pool with sun deck. I am not at the property full time but you will be met by the property manager when you arrive and she will be available to answer queries throughout your stay. Les Chapelles is a small hamlet set in the Charente-Maritime countryside between the historic Roman town of Saintes and the beautiful beaches of Royan. The hamlet is close to Montpellier-de-Médillan and Meursac, villages with butchers, bakers, convenience stores, newsagents and, in Meursac, a superb restaurant. It is within easy reach of the larger towns of Cozes, Saintes and Royan with further opportunities for shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment. Slightly further afield are sophisticated La Rochelle, buzzing Bordeaux and world-famous Cognac. There is parking available on the property. The quiet rural setting does make a car necessary. There is a railway station at Saintes (20 minutes) and there are airports at La Rochelle (1 hour) and Bordeaux (1hr 15 minutes).
