Our cozy 1,100 sq ft. private home has nice "partial" ocean views. Just a 3 minute walk to the historic 804 walking trail~bluff and "rocky beach" for agate hunting and tide pools. Fun and easy walk to downtown shops and restaurants, our home is sparkling clean and beautifully landscaped with a private fenced yard in a very quiet and friendly neighborhood. Yachats is truly the "Gem of the Oregon Coast". Our cozy home is beautifully decorated with attention to detail throughout. Recently updated with new furniture, very comfy beds, walk in shower, etc. We have 3 small bedrooms, 2 "small" full bathrooms, and you will enjoy our 2 separate living room areas as many guests have commented about. The kids can watch movies or cable TV - ESPN in one, and the adults can entertain or have quiet time in the other. Each has a large screen HDTV with DVD players and we have tons of DVD movies to choose from. The updated kitchen is very small and has no dishwasher, but we have all the cookware and necessities you will need. We also have crab rings and clamming equipment for your use. For many years we have shared our home and advertised privately. We have had wonderful reviews, some calling our home and gardens "Magical" and many return guests year after year. Also FYI - The City of Yachats 9% lodging tax we pay on your behalf so you will not see any additional charges for this city tax. OCEAN VIEWS: While we are not ocean front, our house sits up at the top of our gradually sloping downhill street leading directly to the ocean bluff and the 804 trail. Our ocean views while beautiful, are distant and partially obstructed by roof tops and some trees. You can see the horizon and fishing boats from many areas inside and outside of our house. Please Note that the first 3 Ocean Pictures on my listing are captioned with "Zoom View" "Close-Up's" taken from the house to show ocean detail without the obstructions. You can always hear the constant roar of the ocean and the crashing waves on the rocks day and night. DECKS: We have 4 separate decks all with different partial ocean views and the rooftop "Crows Nest" deck has a wonderful view north and south as far as you can see over the ocean. Stunning "sunset" views too! It is accessible from a spiral staircase and has a bistro table, chairs and bench. You can sometimes see spouting whales from here while you enjoy outdoor dining, evening cocktails, morning coffee, or just basking in the sun. There is a covered front deck with outdoor furniture and gas BBQ. There is a small deck at the front of the house with a nice view, table and chairs, and a deck at the back of house with a distant and partial whitewater view. LIVING ROOM/ DINING ROOM/KITCHEN: The open concept living room has sofa & love seat and (faux stone) electric fireplace. Large ocean view windows with 2 separate seating chairs for your viewing enjoyment, morning coffee, etc. A breakfast bar that seats 2 with additional outlets and room for your laptop or electronic devices, and a dining table that seats 4. This room has access to both the front deck and the covered deck with stairs leading down into the fenced yard. You can watch the winter storms from the comfort of inside or bundle up and sit on the covered deck. Either way, the giant waves and wind storms are wild and amazing to watch. Check out our wind gauge during these storms as we have seen gusts registering up to 91 MPH. FAMILY ROOM: Located in the back area of the house and can be closed off from the rest of the house for privacy - has a full size sofa bed and love seat, large screen HDTV/DVD an electric fireplace, and adjoining full bath with walk in shower. Access to the back deck and yard with partial ocean view from here. BEDROOMS: We have 3 "very small" bedrooms. All have comfy new beds. One with a queen bed and a small TV/DVD, and two that are themed... the Mermaid Room (queen bed) and the Captain's "very tiny" Room (twin bed memory foam mattress). Kids love this room! Several board games are in here. Please NOTE: This bedroom does not have a direct wall heater so it is cooler, but the adjoining room does and that heater warms the bedroom when door is open. This adjoining room also has a wood stove which keeps it nice and warm too. Also NOTE: The Mermaid Room does not have a wall heater so (although very well insulated) it is a bit cooler inside. We have extra blankets if needed, for all beds in our home. ADDITIONAL ROOMS: Sitting Room/Wood stove room. Adjoining the Captain's bedroom there is a small Sitting Room with a table & 4 chairs, a love seat, and a wood burning stove - firewood is always provided. A nice room to relax in, play cards and board games or read a book and enjoy a warm cozy fire on a stormy day. OVER SIZED LAUNDRY ROOM: Has an extra table with three chairs. Access to our flower & bamboo garden from here. **PLEASE NOTE: WE USE UNSCENTED LAUNDRY PRODUCTS. ALSO EPA APPROVED DISINFECTANTS & CLEANING PRODUCTS THAT MAY HAVE MILD SCENTS. Yachats is known as the "Gem Of The Oregon Coast" and for good reason! It's a charming small town village with friendly people, situated at the foot of lush forested mountains with breathtaking and endless views of the pacific ocean. Unique that it boasts some of the most dramatic wave action in the world due to the rocky basalt outcroppings and endless pounding of the surf. Our home is situated in a nice quiet residential neighborhood with direct walking access to the bluff, and the 804 trail (whale sightings are frequent here) which connects to the beach and beyond including restaurants, gift shops, etc. as noted below... While in Yachats you'll want to check out the many restaurants in town. The Green Salmon for breakfast & lunch, Bread & Roses Bakery, Beach Street Kitchen, The Drift Inn restaurant & bar, ONA restaurant, The Sea Note Lounge & Restaurant, Yachats Underground Pub, Yachats Brewing & Farm Store, Luna Seafood restaurant, Leroy's Blue Whale restaurant, and the Adobe restaurant & lounge, which is just a couple of minutes walk from our house. Don't miss the Yachats state park & overlook where you can see amazing surf action (look for spouting whales here too) and walk or take a short drive to the sandy beach area where the Yachats River meets the Sea. And check out the Yachats Community Park in the middle of town (behind the Commons Bldg.) with walking trails thru wetlands and ponds and a play area for kids. Also, there is a bus twice a day to Walport and Newport from Yachats. Yachats is a small town village so walking or biking are great ways to see the sights and enjoy the splendor of the majestic Pacific Ocean! Restaurants and stores are also within walking distance. We are fortunate to have direct access to the bluff/rocky beach area on our street without having to drive anywhere! It's just a 3 minute walk from our front door to the end of our street with access to the bluff/beach area and the famous 804 trail (thought to be the oldest known footpath in America). Whales are often spotted here playing and spy hopping close to shore. Low tide has incredible tide pools with abundant marine life and colorful sea stars clinging to the basalt rocks. You will often see photographers here as this area is known for some of the most dramatic and breathtaking wave and surf action in the world due to the rocky shore. There is a large sandy beach off the 804 trail as you walk a little further North (be sure and check the TIDE TABLES for Low Tide ACCESS) and a sandy beach area (walk or drive) just to the South of town where the Yachats River meets the Sea. There are so many beautiful places to explore in this area. These are a few of my favorites... Must See in the area: Cape Perpetua Scenic Area "The Highest Point accessible by car on the Oregon Coast" has 23 miles of hiking trails along the seashore and within old growth forest - and is just 2 miles or 8 minutes South by car. It's an easy drive up to the parking area and you can enjoy the magnificent view from there, or you can continue on foot and access the short trail up to the top "historic stone shelter" lookout area. From here on a clear day you can see 37 miles out to sea and 70 miles of coastline. In addition - "Devil's Churn" viewpoint and the famous "Thor's Well" at Cook's Chasm is also in the Cape's scenic area off Hwy 101. " But - PLEASE enjoy this (Thors Well) wonder from a SAFE DISTANCE." Waldport and the Alsea River located just 8 miles north, has boat and equipment rentals for fishing and crabbing, sandy beaches, and the Crestview golf course. Newport is just 23 miles north with many bay front restaurants and shops, very "loud" Sea Lions (a must see) lounging on the docks just below the Clearwater Restaurant, fish markets, whale watching charter boats, Hatfield Marine Science Center, The Oregon Coast Aquarium, Ripley's Believe It Or Not/Wax Museum, The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and Lighthouse at the north end of town and the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and park/picnic area near the bay area. Both lighthouses offer tours at certain times of the year. Florence is just 26 miles south - with sand dunes, dune buggy rentals and excursions, horseback riding on the beach, 3 golf courses, historic "Old Town" bay front gift shops and restaurants, and the "Three Rivers Casino" near by. In between Yachats and Florence are numerous parks, pull outs and hiking trails where you can explore the forest and the sandy beaches - Devil's Churn, Strawberry Hill, Heceta Head Lighthouse and tours, to name a few, and of course a visit to the famous Sea Lion Caves, America's largest sea cave and year round home to the Stellar Sea Lions since 1932.
