We have a house with a private basement room and hallway to private bath willing to share w/ short and longer-term guests. Public parts of basement include air hockey table, TV, small kitchenette, mini fridge, and bar which we'll belly up to with you if we're around. 15 minutes from Grand Rapids and 1 mile away from big mall and variety of restaurants. Due to allergies, we do not accept service animals of any kind. This is a family home so don't reserve for hook-ups or crisis alleviation. Can close yourself in to private section of the basement or socialize in the entertainment area. Right between M6 and 196 highways. We are a busy family so not always here to greet guests when they arrive, but we make sure you have access to your room whenever you get here. If you're booking as two guests, but use two beds, it is an additional $10/bed/night, payable to host directly in cash. Please tell me in advance how many beds you will be using. We're pretty hospitable and try to be sensitive to your presence but we reserve the right to have other guests in the basement and make noise (during what I consider reasonable times). Private bed and bathroom with Queen and bunk beds (which are not ideally suited/built for 2 adults, but top mattress can be placed on floor), sauna room, basketball hoop, paddle boat, kayak, and sometimes craft beer on tap. There is a TV in the bedroom but not connected to cable so bring your own streaming device. Guests are expected to sleep in your private area. Nice to spend at least a few minutes getting better acquainted, but if you're just looking to be alone, that's not a problem and we understand. We are used to hosting a variety of guests and pretty much roll with whatever preferences you have. Friendly, safe, close to restaurants and shopping. Grand Rapids bus transit has a stop 2 blocks away. Easy and quick access to highways. We have a cleaning lady working every other Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. If you're gone, she will clean your private area. If not, she can avoid the bedroom but will still clean your bath and hallway between 8-8:40. Either way, please note that the central vacuum is located in a storage room adjacent to your bedroom and is loud. The storage room also contains the homes' fuse box and if access is required, the only entry is thru your bedroom. Beginning in 2019, our insurance carrier provided us with exceptions to our home and auto coverage specific to Air BnB guests and Air BnB itself, will not cover all incidents. We've been hosting since 2014 and haven't had any incidents. However, to protect ourselves, we issue the following disclaimer. "When booking our room, Tim Arkema and family(and their insurance provider) will not be held liable for any damage to property (including vehicles) or personal injury of Air BnB guests as a result of flooding, natural causes, accidents, or incidents without proven motive or unknown source. All guests, and members of their party, agree and consent to this disclaimer upon reservation of the space listed by Tim Arkema in AirBnB, through AirBnB. Upon confirmation of a stay in the Arkema home through AirBnB, guests also waive any right to pursue any type of compensation for perceived or claimed damages through any United States legal court of law with Tim Arkema, any family member or other invited guest of Tim Arkema, or insurance provider as the named defendant."
