Relaxing cottage on an organic homestead that’s only a 2 minute drive or 5-10 minute bike ride to Main Street in Cottage Grove, and 20 minutes from Eugene. The space The cottage is a sweet and somewhat rustic one bedroom house with loft. The loft functions as the other sleeping space and is open to the common spaces (kitchen and living room). It is pretty roomy for a one bedroom and has a private back patio with small and mostly wild garden. The front looks out onto an oak grove and our shop. Guests have access to the cottage, garden and patio. The cottage is our guest home. Rather than an airbrushed, bleached hotel vibe we strive for a comfortable, natural, and homelike setting. It has a lived in feel. We clean thoroughly with eco friendly products and keep scents to a minimum (we do use Dr. Bronner's rose or lavender soap for the floors and diluted essential oils). All our sheets and pillow cases are cotton and washed with fragrance free laundry detergent. There is a full kitchen and it is stocked with most necessities. These are the things that are essential to us when we travel! The floors of the main living area are tile that keep the space cool in the summer and have radiant heat in the winter to keep things cozy. There is also a small gas burning fireplace. Our house is on the same property and we are around a lot of the time and really enjoy getting to know our guests. It is country life out here- quiet and peaceful a lot of the time but also things going on- kids out playing, riding bikes, basketball, goats being herded, gardening, etc. The property is a work in progress, not an immaculately kept retreat. Kids are welcome but it is not “baby proof”- stairs, loft, etc. Outside on the property there is also farm equipment and tools that are not in your space but kids could get to them if left to roam away from the airbnb space (which we kindly ask you not to do). The house that we live in is separate but visible as you drive in and has a fenced playground and backyard that is private and not available to guests. We do go out of town somewhat regularly so there are times when there is no host on site. Guest access Guests have the cottage and a small back patio. Other things to note No smoking inside or outside the cottage. We ask for quiet after 10 pm (as in no loud music, etc). The cottage is on 7 acres. Guests are welcome to enjoy the outdoor space but asked to not go into other buildings (i.e. the shop) or through fences. There is a TV with a Roku device. Currently we provide access to YouTube TV and Netflix streaming apps.
