This community lies high above the Maggie Valley Country Club in Maggie Valley, N.C. Totaling 200 acres, only 50 acres have been developed so far, into 39 home sites. It is gated and very private. Views of the valley below and mountains beyond are outstanding Roads are privately maintained and are wide although somewhat curvy. The elevation runs 4,000 to 5,000 feet and the community is predominantly comprised of summer homes. The roads are paved all around the subdivision with some sharp switchbacks and steep roads. We highly recommend a 4wd during the winter season. This was the second Smoky Mountain Retreat to be developed. It is part of a larger 500 acre community that includes approximately 150 other log home sites. All the roads in the community are paved, there are some steep areas and sharp switchbacks. The driveway is half paved and half gravel with a little incline to it. We recommend AWD or 4WD but not highly necessary. Just about 15 minutes away from Smoky Mountain Retreat follows into the strip with plenty of shops to visit such as for ice cream, crafts, gems, food and souvenirs. Also Wheels Through Time a historical motorcycle museum. Following Maggie Valley also visit Cherokee where Harrah’s Casino is located, then explore into the Blue Ridge Parkway for breathtaking views. Downtown Waynesville that is also about 15 minutes away walk through and visit restaurants, shops & breweries. Asheville that is approximately 35 minutes explore Americas Largest Home, The Biltmore Mansion. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and tour the production facility.
