Indeed, as we ourselves are a family with 3 children, we have often encountered the 4-person limit imposed by many properties, even though the available space would allow 5 people to stay comfortably. This extra bed therefore provides a convenient option for accommodating one additional person, while remaining clear about its supplementary nature. It also helps you avoid having to increase your vacation budget by booking a larger place with an extra bedroom, which is often more expensive.
