A beautiful Algarvean villa, situated in the Ria Formosa nature reserve, overlooking the picturesque estuary dotted with traditional fishing boats and affording amazing sea views. This charming and inviting villa sleeps 6/8 with a private garden and pool and just a short stroll away from a fantastic local seafood restaurant and idyllic beaches. Casa do Cerro is a unique and beautifully located family holiday home with all modern facilities and comforts. The hill top location of Casa do Cerro has belonged to the same family for generations and the house itself was designed and built to encompass all the requirements of an ideal family holiday venue. The garden has been lovingly tended and offers a multitude of places to relax and play, with shade or sun, with a panorama of views. Gazeneas, Geraniums and a large grape vine border the terraces by the house. The garden is terraced and the paths around the villa are made with traditional cobble stone designs. Extended from the lounge is a large covered terrace. A centennial Stone Pine tree graces the garden and offers shade to those who wish to lunch under its branches. A traditional water wheel sits above the stone 8.5 m x 4.5m pool, there is also an outdoor barbeque. Relax in this calm location and enjoy the spectacular, elevated views over the estuary and Mediterranean Sea! Casa do Cerro has been built and furnished with great care and attention, using local stone, terracotta and wrought iron. Each room is a room with a view! The split-level lounge and dining room have wooden vaulted ceilings and French patio doors. The heavy oak dining table and chairs seat 8 comfortably. Casa do Cerro has wireless internet included and a television with channels via the internet and a DVD player. There is also a log burning open fireplace in this ample living room. The spacious, fully equipped modern kitchen with its ochre granite surfaces is a pleasure to be in! On the first floor there is a pretty south facing twin room, with fitted wardrobes and patio doors. Adjacent to this is a good sized, south facing, double room, also with fitted wardrobes and French patio doors that lead onto a cobbled terrace and the garden. Opposite this bedroom is a family sized bathroom with a bath/shower, beautifully decorated with locally glazed tiles. The master bedroom has a King size bed, fitted wardrobes, and a pretty yellow en-suite bathroom with a bath/shower and bidet and French patio doors that lead out on to two beautiful private roof terraces with sea views! Secluded sunbathing guaranteed!! On the ground floor there is a self-contained apartment that can sleep three, with a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, a pretty mosaic bathroom with shower and toilet and a division with a sofa bed, suitable for children. The apartment has a fitted kitchen and solid oak dining table with seating for four. French patio doors open on to a cobbled patio with beautiful views of the Algarvean Serra and Monte São Miguel. Six sun loungers are available in the garden; there is a shaded terrace and the shade of the Stone Pine tree. A table and chairs are also available. The pool measures 8.5 m x 4.5 m with a depth of 1.20 m leading to a deep end of 1.50 m. The pool has a Chlorine cleaning system. The pool is serviced once weekly by a competent and reliable professional. Pinheiro has one of the best fish restaurants in the area, a short walk from the villa! Other shops and supermarkets can be found in Luz de Tavira 3 km, and Tavira 10 km away. The beach island seen across the river from Casa do Cerro can only be accessed by the local boats; fortunately river crossings can be arranged with local boat owners and fishermen. Being inaccessible by car and also larger ferry boats ensures an idyllic, unpopulated and quiet beach! Fuzeta has a ferry crossing service to the island as do Tavira and Olhão. Barril beach in Santa Luzia has a miniature train and footpath access, open and running all year. There is a small beach on the riverside in Fuzeta which is great for a quick dip and sundowner. There are excellent golf courses within 25 to 40 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei. Car hire is not essential if you are happy to get around by bicycle. The house is on the Ecovia trail, which runs parallel with the coast and reaches nearby towns. However, we would recommend car hire especially in the heat of summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative. We can supply a cot, linen and high chair. Please let us know if you have any other requirements. This accommodation is suitable for the elderly; there is a connected apartment on the ground floor without steps. The main house has 4 stairs up into the lounge and a first floor with a wide stone staircase. Casa do Cerro is detached and not at all overlooked, being situated on top of a hamlet with the nearest neighbours 50m below and 50m behind the villa. Casa do Cerro has a rather steep drive up to the property and is situated at the end of an unmade country track. Surrounded by nature and located on the outskirts of a small fishing village on the Ecovia route – bike and pedestrian trail. Pinheiro is a quiet coastal village location, a short drive from the small town of Luz de Tavira and easily reached from Tavira and Fuzeta. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property. Small pets may be considered on longer winter lets. Arrival and departure times are flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is usually at 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged. We provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms. There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals. Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival.
