Description

Nestled among the trees, overlooking a neighboring pond, and completely off grid our Tiny Home will provide you with a unique camping experience in a solitary setting. This solar-powered home was mainly built from recycled and re-purposed materials. The Tiny Home is for camping-loving people looking for outdoor activities nearby—water holes, hiking trails, Lake Carmi, Jay Peak, bike trails, kayaking on the Missisquoi Valley River, covered bridges, and the color changing leaves in the Fall. The space If you love the outdoor camping experience, being off the grid, going completely solar--from lights to your warm shower, and are ready to go explore Vermont outdoors, then the Berkshire Tiny Home on Wheels is what you are looking for! The TH is approximately 8 x 16 that sits on a little over an acre of land. The home is in a secluded area overlooking a neighboring pond yet close enough to the road. The natural spring feeding the pond will be a welcome sound as you retire for the evening. Swimming in the pond is not allowed but there are several water holes around the area as well as Lake Carmi nearby. Please be advised that there is no running water for the toilet. You need to read up on compost toilets to see if this is something you want to do. The shower water comes from a tank and is easily replenished by the guest after each use--we'll show you how. We have a enhanced cleaning regimen as well as offering a check in video for guests on how to use the home. The home offers you a rustic experience completely off grid as it is powered by solar panels feeding a Yeti Solar Generator. This in turn is connected to a breaker box powering a few appliances in the home. The type of electrical appliances available for use are limited so the system is not overloaded. Please do not bring any electrical gadgets unless they are usb operated. We will take time to explain during check in or send you a check in video prior to arrival. The Yeti will recharge automatically as soon as the sun comes out. The kitchen has basic items and utensils to prepare yourself a meal. There is a gas range and oven as well as some spices. For potable water, there is a sink with a hand pump connected to a 5 gallon water jug under the sink. There is a small fridge that most guests use during sunny days as well as a small 26 quart Orca cooler for your convenience--this will keep your food cold for a few days. Feel free to bring your own coolers or let us know if you might need one. The private loft offers a queen size bed for sleeping., take extra care going up and down the ladder. The home has a small living area in which the built-in sofa can also turn into a single bed. A Vermont Hearthstone propane fireplace will keep you heated during the cool Spring or Fall nights. In the midst of the Summer, there will not be need for the fireplace and we encourage you to leave the screened windows open to let in cooler air. The loft can get quite warm during a hot day, so we have provided our guests with a number of USB powered fans and mini evap cooler to try to make it more comfortable. A TV and Blue Ray player may offer some entertainment if you want to simply sit down and relax--feel free to bring some of your favorite movies if you would like. The bathroom has a rustic compost toilet. Once again, we highly recommend that you research this topic before such an adventure as it could be a new experience to some folks. Please, please, remember that for all intents and purposes you are not in a hotel as you are technically camping. However, unlike normal camping you will be able to enjoy some home amenities--such as baking a meal or taking a hot shower. Speaking of showers...the TH has a refillable 30-gallon water tank so we ask that you take "Navy Showers" to prevent you from running out of water. We will leave some extra water containers and there is also a rain water container for easy refilling. The shower water is heated by a gas propane heater and the water pump is powered by the Yeti generator. Refilling the water tank is easy with rainwater catchment system and we will send you the information on how to do it. Please be advised that there is no WiFi nor cell reception in the property. Once again, you will truly be off the grid. Cell reception is very spotty in this Northern section of VT—if needed you can get service 1/4 mile down the road. Driveway is loose stone. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY The hosts urge all guests to use the Tiny Home's features, facilities, and grounds in the safest manner. Use of all features, including but not limited to the use of the loft ladder, grounds, firepit, and appliances are done at the guests sole risk. Guests understand that they are fully responsible for keeping away from the caution rope near the rock ledge. Guests also agree to use of all features and hosts shall not be liable to guests for any claims related to illnesses, demands, injuries, damages, or actions arising out of or in connection with the misuse of facilities, natural events/disasters or general accidents on facility grounds. Guests choosing to use the firepit agree to do so safely and in accordance with house rules. Guests understand that hosts are not to be held responsible for damaged or lost personal property. Guest hereby holds hosts harmless from any/all claims brought against them. Guest understands that by booking a reservation they are effectively agreeing to the terms of this Waiver and Release of Liability. Guest access Please do not swim in the pond. Other things to note The Yeti generator will make your stay comfortable. We also added an extra "tank" for added electrical capacity. All of this will be explained to you on videos that will be sent prior to your arrival. In a normal sunny day, the system will replenish itself while being mindful of your usage. We do ask that you limit electric usage during a cloudy day to prevent unnecessary depletion of the charge. In the event the power gets down to 20%, you will need to fire up the gas generator to power the home and recharge the Yeti. We will explain before check in and we will also give you a binder with specific instructions.
