Sleep in an upcycled house out of plastic bottles and get to now the social innovations of the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) and connect with its scholars. Be part of a community of changemakers and experience rural but comfortable life in Uganda. Interact and take part in social innovation in its making or relax in a beautiful environment away from the pollution and hustle of Kampala (yet the city is only 1h away). Marginalized youth are creating their own opportunities in form of social enterprises, where you can experience an innovative empowerment location on top of a beautiful hill. You stay contributes 100% towards supporting the youth to create a future for themselves. A broad variety of activities and community tours are awaiting you. We are excited to have you with us! The Social Innovation Experience is not just a regular Hotel but integrated and part of a Community of Social Entrepreneurs. It is managed and operated by the nonprofit NGO Social Innovation Academy (SINA) We educate former orphans, street children, refugees and other disadvantaged youth in Uganda to become job creators and social entrepreneurs with the ability to turn challenges into solutions. Your stay is directly contributing to support marginalized youth in Uganda in their mission to become changemakers. The Academy is located right next to the accommodation village and you will have the unique chance to interact with us, see different innovations happen and get to know our social entrepreneurs. Of course you may also choose to relax in the quiet village! We will give you a tour at the beginning of your stay, which will explain our model, possible activities for you and logistics (e.g. where to find our free drinking water) etc. We would like you to be aware that the Social Innovation Experience is a basic accommodation. Our students will take care of you, who are within training to become professionals. Like in all villages in Uganda: showering water is usually not heated, meals are traditional Ugandan and the electricity can sometimes be out. SINA offers you a unique opportunity to emerge in a village life, while having everything you need around you and especially a welcoming and inspiring community. You can take part in our communal (simple) meals. If you wish anything extra, we have a small shop onsite and can also prepare additional food for you.
