The House Next Door has a Northwoods feel while being in town and close to your likely destination. Just four blocks from downtown Ironwood, and in the heart of all the outdoor adventure the Gogebic Range has to offer. You'll love the warm cozy feel, and the ability to mingle in the open concept lr/dr/kitchen downstairs, or retreat upstairs for a quiet, peaceful setting. Individuals, couples, families, and up to eight friends would enjoy my place, provided you can live with one bathroom. I've recently purchased and renovated this 100 year old house. You'll find original and newer woodwork in every room, nature's color palette, a Northwoods nature decor, an eastern exposure and large windows for lots of morning light, a small cedar back deck and large shady front porch for summer use. The interior was renovated in 2018, the exterior was repainted in 2019 and the garage was painted in 2020. Ironwood is undergoing a renaissance and The House Next Door is my contribution toward that movement! You have the whole house to yourself. You may access the unfinished basement to use the washer and dryer. The garage is available for guest use and can accommodate one car. Two cars can fit on the parking pad in front of the garage. We may ask you to park in the garage if we are expecting overnight snow, to make early a.m. snow removal easier. Since I live next door, you can likely meet me face-to-face for any questions, issues, or ideas about where to go, what to do. I will reply to text messages as soon as I possibly can. This is a safe and quiet residential neighborhood of mostly single-family homes. You can walk (or drive) 3-5 blocks to restaurants/bars, coffee shops, the local brew pub, our food co-op, the historic Ironwood Theatre, gift shops and clothing stores, several churches, a day spa, and the Depot Park where our Chamber of Commerce, history museum and a small playground are located . There may be some car noise from Business US-2, especially in summer with the windows open. We're perfectly situated for the active outdoor lifestyle! The Iron Belle Trail can be accessed at the end of our block to run, bike, roller ski, or walk on the paved trail that spans 6 miles between Hurley and Bessemer. I can help you with longer running routes and nice 25-50 mile bike routes from the house on low-traffic roads. Snowmobile Trail #2 can be accessed at the Depot Park four blocks away. Mt Zion scenic overlook makes a nice two-mile walk (or drive) from the house. We also have a yoga studio and fitness center within one block. Both allow drop ins. Within a six mile radius you will find cross country skiing and snowshoeing at ABR, Wolverine and Miners Memorial Park; downhill skiing at Big Powderhorn, Indianhead and Blackjack; short hikes at Miners Memorial Park, Interstate Falls and others; mt/fat biking at several local trails; kayaking on Gile Flowage; snowmobiling on Trial #2 and #17 in Wisconsin. Within 20 miles: Hike and view waterfalls along the Black River and continue on to Black River Harbor for a sandy beach. Take the chair lift to the top of Copper Peak ski flying hill for a 360 degree view of the Northwoods. Visit Lake Superior at Little Girls Point and Saxon Falls, for a rocky beach, kayaking boat launches, or stops on a long bike ride or scenic drive. Ride your mountain bike at WinMan Trails. Popular day trips include Porcupine Mts Wilderness State Park for hiking and Fall color; Bayfield, WI for fruit orchards, boating, the famous Apostle Island National Lakeshore sea caves, dining, shopping and casino; Minocqua, WI for shopping, dining, and xc skiing. I provide travel brochures and am glad to help you plan your visit based on your interests! We have sidewalks for foot traffic and it is common to see folks walking the neighborhood. This is Big Snow Country, so in winter, there is no parking allowed on the streets and most sidewalks are covered with piles of snow! We snow blow our driveways and walk in the street. Only well traveled sidewalks are kept clear of snow, and we are lucky in that the City keeps the sidewalk from the end of our block (Lowell St) into downtown clear of snow for winter pedestrian safety. US-2, the main East-West thoroughfare through town, is just a few blocks North of the house. Hwy 51 takes you South from Hurley, less than a mile away. No indoor smoking and no pets. Good Wifi, Roku provided with tons of free channels and ability to stream your own subscriptions, e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime. Pricing Notes: I offer discounts for stays of 7+, 14+ and 28+ days, a flexible cancellation policy, 10% off for nonrefundable bookings, and $15 additional person charges after 4 guests. Bedrooms #2 and #3 are semi-private. You pass through #2 to get to the stairway. There are doors at the bottom of the stairs and at the hallway so #2 can be private (depending on if anyone is using the upstairs bedrooms or not). Upstairs, bedroom #3 is a dorm style that you pass through to access #4. The two bedrooms with queen beds (#1 & #4) are private (have doors) & no one passing through. There is one bathroom, with shower stall (no tub), towels, blow dryer, shampoo & lotion. Mirrors with nearby outlets in bedrooms #2, 3 & 4 to expedite bathroom time! The kitchen is fully functional with all the basic cooking equipment, coffee maker, coffee press, pizza stone, toaster, blender, Folkscraft stoneware, silverware & glassware, including wine glasses, for nine. There is also a 3-stage under-sink water filter for clean, fresh drinking water at the kitchen sink. Children & babies are welcome. I have a Pack-n-Play, a removable bed rail for use on the twin beds with toddlers, a high chair and a booster chair. I have one safety gate that can be put in a doorway. Please note there is no bath tub (shower only). No central air conditioning; it is generally not needed. Our average summer daytime temps are in the 70s with night time lows in the 50s. Opening windows at night and use of ceiling fans and floor fans (provided) tends to keep the house comfortable, and the shady front porch and back deck offer breezy outdoor spaces. However, I do have a window AC unit in br #1, on the first floor, with the queen bed, June - August. Snowmobilers I have hosted snowmobiles and I can tell you what works and what doesn't work. I have a garage with a low overhead clearance and a parking pad that fits two vehicles. There is a pic on the listing. Snowmobiles must be parked on the parking pad. Two vehicles and two snowmobiles works. You cannot ride or park on the snow in the yard. You cannot park on the street. You cannot park sleds in the garage. There is no room for a trailer. The City has designated spots for overnight trailer parking. You would need to check with them where they are and how that works. You can ride on the streets the shortest distance to the trail. For us that's Trail 2 which is only 2-4 blocks away. I have a house rule against outdoor noise after 10pm. If you are coming home after that, you must just drive up and park and not make excessive noise. These parameters work for some. If they fit with your group, we're good!
