The cottage provides accommodation for couples and small families alike. The enclosed courtyard garden with gated side access is ideal for cycle storage. Yarmouth is located on the western side of the Island with a natural harbour guarded by Yarmouth Castle, a fortification built to protect the Solent from invading forces by Henry VIII. The Harbour attracts many yachts and motor cruisers which take advantage of the estuary afforded by the River Yar. The Lymington to Yarmouth car and passenger ferry docks in the harbour, making holidaying with or without a car easy, as only a short stroll from the cottage. This bustling town has an active community all year round. The square has a varied range of shops and delightful eating establishments. The 700ft long Victorian pier is a great place to go fishing and boat trips can be taken from here to various destinations. There are walks along the promenade and the former railway track, called "The Causeway", which provides a delightful walk along the banks of the Yar towards Freshwater, with local wildlife in abundance and many species of birds. This is also a cycle track with many miles linking other tracks across the Island. Places of interest and of outstanding natural beauty include The Needles, Alum Bay with its coloured sands, chair lift and Pleasure Park, Tennyson Down and miles of outstanding coastal scenery from nearby Freshwater Bay. The West of the Isle of Wight is an area of outstanding natural beauty showcasing the Island's iconic feature, the Needles. The dramatic and unspoilt coastline of the West Wight is very popular with walkers, bird watchers, nature lovers and those seeking a quiet, tranquil environment in which stay. Compton Bay's long sandy beach spanning the south west is non-commercialised and unspoilt and a popular spot for surfing, great family fun days out and for fascinating fossil finding. On the north west side sailors love to moor their boats in the safe harbour and step ashore to enjoy the old world charm of Yarmouth, with its variety of shops, superb pubs and restaurants and the 700 foot long pier boasting the splendour of the Victorian era. Yarmouth Castle, Isle of Wight provides a magnificent picnic spot, with views over the Solent for a lovely relaxing family day by the sea. The Needles Park Chairlift continues to be a firm favourite with, the views are truly spectacular from the picturesque Needles Rocks and lighthouse to the multi-coloured sand cliffs, also look out for the marvellous turquoise colour of the sea. You will be spoilt for choice for food; from the opulence of the George Hotel in Yarmouth to fish and chips with fantastic view from Totland Pier.
