The accomodation is a charming private villa with park not far from the 'Riviera dei Limoni' sea (2 Kms), from Mount Etna (40 minutes drive), from Catania (20 minutes drive) and Taormina (30 minutes drive) located in Guardia, a quite village on the outskirts of Acireale (Catania). The villa is set in a superb strategical position to move for a complete visit of eastern Sicily.The A18 Motorway connecting Catania to Messina is only 5 Kms away. The Catania airport 25 Kms.The villa has recently been modernised in rustic sicilian style. At ground floor: two double bedrooms (with one additional bed on request) in adjoining rooms separeted by a sliding door, two bathrooms with hot shower, kitchenette with kitchen facilities. At first floor: one double and one single bedroom (with one additional bed on request) , one bathroom with hot shower and wide adjoinng sitting room with four armchairs and two sofas, perfect to a complete relax. The two floors are connected by an internal stair. The guests use their own independent entrance. Safe private parking in the court, 250 sq mts of private(only for guests use) garden with furniture (chairs, table, ombrella). Barbecue in the garden available as well. Owner lives on site in a separate part of the villa, car hire recommended but not strictly necessary. Railway station only 300 meters away. The whole scene of the area is dominated by the awe-inspiring hulk of Mount Etna rising up in all her majesty. The north and south faces can be reached easily in little more than half an hour. Little size pets are welcome. Surrounding & history: Acireale is a small ancient thermal town situated on the eastern coast of Sicily, 20 Km to the north of Catania. Its history is characterized by the earthquakes and the eruptions of Etna that, several times, have upset the order of the territory. The last reconstruction - after the earthquake in 1693 - has given a splendid Baroque look to Acireale, one of the most beautiful locations in Sicily. Worth visiting are: San Sebastian Church, the Zelantea art gallery, the theatre of the Puppets Opera, the Cathedral square that presents enchanting Baroque scenery; we remember the Carnival that, with its floats of papier-mâché, attracts visitors from all over the world. In the surroundings you can admire: landscapes offered by the volcanic hinterland; view of the next Cyclops's Riviera; fishing-villages, like Santa Tecla, Stazzo, Santa Maria la Scala situated at the foot of the Timpa, a ridge of millennial layers of lava overlapped, that reaches 200 meters upwards. Till today the Timpa, covered by a typical rich vegetation, represents a natural and geological heritage of an extraordinary charm.
