Amazing Lakefront Westshore Ithaca

Gorgeous lakefront property with large waterfront on Lake Cayuga, only 2-3 miles from downtown. With expansive views of the lake, our 3 story home has a rustic, vintage style with a deck, beautiful hillside gardens, firepit, kayaks, hammocks. The house is our home except for dates when we rent it. We have a self contained owner's section on the south side of the property that has its own entry etc. It's likely that you wouldn't even see us. Our car will be parked up the driveway a bit. The space Our rustic, vintage 4-bedroom, 3-bath historic "fishing cabin" was originally built in the mid-1800's. Since the 1920's the house has been expanded to its 2200 sf size and all modern conveniences added. The kitchen has stainless appliances, laundry room has front loading washer and dryer. The three bathrooms have a shower in each and a clawfoot bathtub in one. The property is private with magnificent oak and hemlock trees. 2 bedrooms have queensize beds, and 2 bedrooms have fullsize beds. The 2 lakeside bedrooms have incredible lake views. We prefer no more than 8 guests since the ecosystem is delicate and the house is our home. We make it available for guests but we prefer small family groups and have a strict NO PARTY rule as well as no outside visitors. The neighborhood is peaceful and family oriented and loud groups are disturbing to neighbors. If you have additional folks in your group there is an additional fee of $40/guest/night. History of the property: The magic of the lake views is really indescribable and this makes the overall feeling on the property incredibly peaceful. The main house was originally a cabin built in the mid-1800's by a mayor of Ithaca; and his daughter, Belle, lived here in the summers until 1922. The fishing cabin was then expanded over the years, and we have slowly renovated and upgraded the home while trying to retain its historical character. The property reminded us of Deetjen's in Big Sur when we first saw it. It's very rustic with an old-timey "vintage" feel but has all modern amenities. Guest access Guests have access to the entire 2200 sf and over 150 ft of shoreline with a large shale beach, a long dock, picnic table, some floaties and lounge chairs, a firepit and grassy lakefront area, hammocks, as well as kayaks and canoe. At the house there is a large deck with gas grill, lounge chairs, outdoor tables and chairs. Fabulous lake views are everywhere. The property is large--1.4 acres--and forest-like with many mature magnificent trees. There is also a 2-bedroom cabin up the hill from the main house that is rented separately and is completely separate from the main house with its own parking, entry way, deck, beach, path to beach, etc. You likely will never run into the cabin guests while you are staying in the main house except at the waterfront where the kayaks and canoe are shared. The owners have a separate section which is not accessible to guests (we stay there when guests are present but our section is completely self contained —nothing shared except the driveway) and a 3-car garage not available to guests except for protecting garbage and compost from critters: at the end of your stay we ask you to secure the garbage in the side door of the garage. Guests have access to 3 single kayaks, one double kayak, and one canoe, at their own risk. If using the boats, it is very important to return the boats to their original place, well away from the water and turned over (due to weather, waves, etc.). VERY IMPORTANT: The rowboat at the north end of the waterfront belongs to our neighbor who uses it for exercise and has it set to his specifications--we are not allowed to use it. Thank you for your observance of this. Other things to note Our rule against parties and outside visitors is STRICT. We do have a driveway camera so the number of guests is verifiable. Please don't abuse this requirement o the rental. If you wish to have outside visitors or additional stayover guests, you MUST ASK THE OWNER FOR PERMISSION. THANKS!
