Description

Bright & cheerful self contained cabin on a 170 acre working cattle farm, situated on idyllic Baffle Creek. Bedding is a double bed Plus 2 bunks. All linen supplied. Kitchen has a cook top and microwave, small fridge. BBQ facilities on the patio and at the sandy beach on the creek which is a 2 minute drive away. This is safe for kids under supervision. Facility to launch your light tinny or bring your kayaks and launch in Baffle Creek known for its pristine environment and renowned for its excellent fishing & crabbing. The boat ramp on farm is usable with a fwd and is more difficult to launch boats with a larger outboard than 15hp, requiring a high tide. At the moment after the last flood it is silted up. Walkers Crossing has a sandy boat ramp and more accessible and is only 500 metres away or Flat Rock council boat ramp about 20 kms. Well behaved pets are welcome - please bring their bedding, food and bowls The nearest shop (Baffle creek General store & Tavern) is about a 15 minute drive away, so you need to be self provisioned. Rosedale and the Royal hotel is 15 mins by car. Smoking outside only and we request people do not throw their butts out to maintain the clean environment, which also includes around the creek. Evening meals may be negotiated with the owners. Negotiations can take place if more people wish to stay if they supply their own tent or van. Payment of the deposit is required for confirmation and the balance required on arrival. Telstra coverage is 4G LTE. Optus coverage is very poor.. The Discovery Coast The 'Baffle" is one of the few remaining 'wild' creek basins in Queensland; in other words there is no restriction of the creek from source to mouth and fish and crabs are free to move throughout the system. This also encourages a wide selection of native birds, brahminy kites and kingfishers being a common sight, with the occasional visits from the black swans or jabirus. With little intense agriculture or industry taking place in the basin, it really is a pristine environment. Access to Agnes Water via Roundhill and Deepwater National parks is a beautiful drive (four wheel drive only). Allow a day for this at least. Rules beach is also 30 minutes away, if you want to do some shore fishing. The Town of 1770 where Captain Cook landed,(giving meaning to the 'discovery coast') is just around the corner from Agnes. The location of these two towns is unique in that they are far enough south to avoid the tropical stingers, far enough north for the water to be warm for swimming, and have reasonable surf before the interruption of the Great Barrier Reef. Lady Musgrave Island is also serviced from 1770, on a daily boat cruise. The location and details 85 Kms north of Bundaberg 70 kms south of Agnes Water by main road 65 kms from Miriam Vale Scroll down to read a review from Garry and Sarah Had a fantastic stay at “Paringa” (Home on the creek). Cabin is simple and comfortable, we stayed in winter and were warm and cozy at night. The cabin has a small motel style fridge which we complemented with our own Waeco. Dean is a wonderful host, who actively encourages you to explore the property. Cattle are super relaxed (even the bulls) so no problem wandering around 170 (acres) of grazing, creek and wetlands. Easy access to the Baffle Creek at the property, a boat is a good idea to explore fishing on the estuary. A few images are here, the gallery includes a fly over the property and Baffle Creek to Rules beach:: Coming from the south Rosedale is the last opportunity for a good coffee at The Little Teahouse. (Now closed as of 2020) Baffle Creek village (20 mins drive) is a friendly place and has fuel, groceries, bait and hardware, bottle shop, pub (Zincalumbar) with locally brewed beers. Rules Beach can be an opportunity for surf casting/beach fishing. The beach is accessible by 4 wheel drive Nice drive to Agnes Water and 1770 if you need a tourist stop, otherwise we found the cabin and Baffle Creek area offered everything we needed for a relaxing, QUIET and inspiring stay. Be aware of the sandflies down on the creek - Garry provided ample fodder for them. Telstra 3G (now 4G LTE) coverage good at the property. Bring your binoculars and bird books as it is a fantastic opportunity for bird Watching and twitching On the property we saw:: Blue Faced Honeyeater Little (Brush) Wattlebird A pair of Jabiru (Black Necked Stork) (what do they come south for winter??) A pair of Brolgas Eastern Great Egret Cattle Egret White faced heron Cockatoos Rosellas Brahimy Kite Wedge Tail Eagle Sea Eagle Perrigine Falcon Cormmorant Grey Fantail Willy Wagtail Kookaburras Further afield on the estuary: Mangrove Robin Little Kingfisher Thanks Dean for a lovely stay.
