The space The cottage is located on a quiet, local traffic only country lane just off of route 28 near the town of Phonecia. The Esopus Creek is just across the lane. The Esopus is locally famous for its trout fishing and there are numerous grassy spots for picnics and swimming holes in walking distance of the cottage. If you want to tube down the river we will pick you up in town. Hunter, Belleayre and Windham are all an easy drive from the cottage for winter sports enthusiasts. The towns of Phonecia and Woodstock are also nearby and offer dozens of sophisticated dining, shopping and nightlife options. Numerous beautiful hiking and state park/preserve areas in easy striking distance. Our bend in the road puts you close to the very best the Catskills have to offer. The cottage was renovated in 2015 with new bathroom, full kitchen which is stocked with everything you may need to cook at home and new furnishings. There is a private outdoor sitting area behind the cottage with a wood burning chiminea and a propane grill for cooking. Of course, you are welcome to use the whole yard, the hammock, other seating areas, or go ahead and join us if we are doing a big burn in the fire-pit out back. There is secure off street parking for our guests. Other things to note Always bring warm clothes. We are definitely in the mountains, the weather can and does change rapidly regardless of the time of year. Enjoy and photograph the local wildlife but please do not feed them. If the local bear is out back its better to stay in till he moves it along they generally don't hang around for long, he is genuinely unimpressed by pot banging and "hey bears" . Please do not leave food or trash outdoors or in your car this is the bears favorite thing.
