Family cabin with mountain views near Breck a d Buena Vista

Description

Escape the everyday at Moose Tracks Mountain Home, your private retreat in Colorado's Rocky Mountain playground. Perched at 10,200 feet and surrounded by towering aspens and evergreens, the cabin showcases sweeping, unobstructed views of the Mosquito Range and some of Colorado's most iconic 14ers. It's the perfect base for adventures. After a day outside, unwind beside the wood-burning fireplace, watch wildlife wander through the property, and enjoy fast Starlink internet for work or streaming. The space Welcome to Moose Tracks, our mountain getaway nestled just five minutes from the historic towns of Fairplay and Alma. Close enough for groceries, restaurants, breweries, and local shops, yet tucked away on a peaceful one-acre lot where you'll feel immersed in the Colorado wilderness. Unlike many mountain properties, Moose Tracks sits just half a mile from Highway 9 on a county-maintained road, providing easier year-round access while still offering the privacy and serenity of a true mountain escape. Winter conditions can still be challenging, so AWD or 4WD with quality snow tires is required. Whether you're here for adventure or relaxation, everything is within easy reach. Spend the day skiing Breckenridge, soaking in Buena Vista's hot springs, exploring historic Leadville, hiking nearby 14ers, casting a line in the Dream Stream, tackling legendary 4x4 trails like Mosquito Pass and Wheeler Lake, or rafting the Arkansas River. Then come home to something even better. Relax on the deck as the sun sets over Mt. Sherman, Mt. Democrat, Mt. Bross, and Quandary Peak. Wander the property to the hammock tucked beneath mature aspens. Sip your morning coffee while hummingbirds visit the feeders, or simply enjoy the quiet as moose, deer, elk, foxes, bobcats, bears, and other wildlife regularly pass through the property. It's one of our favorite parts of staying here, and one our guests remember most. Inside, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and a wall of windows fill the home with natural light and panoramic mountain views. The wood-burning fireplace anchors the open living room, creating the perfect gathering space after a day outdoors. Stream your favorite shows with Roku, enjoy a movie night, challenge friends to board games, or simply curl up with a good book. The fully equipped kitchen features granite countertops, an island for gathering, and everything needed for memorable home-cooked meals. The adjoining dining area comfortably seats six, all while overlooking the mountains through expansive windows. The spacious primary suite upstairs features a king bed, leather recliner, dedicated workspace, and a luxurious ensuite with a large walk-in shower and dual shower heads. Two thoughtfully decorated queen bedrooms on the main level provide comfortable accommodations for additional guests, while the loft offers a cozy place to read, relax, or simply take in the views. No matter where you are in the home, every window frames Colorado's natural beauty, making it easy to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the mountains. Guest access You'll enjoy the convenience of self check-in, allowing you to arrive whenever it works best for you. If arriving late or departing early, please be mindful of noise, as our neighbors value the peace and quiet of the mountains. Winter weather can bring significant snowfall during your stay. A shovel is provided should you need to clear the deck, stairs, or driveway for easier access. Because of our mountain location, we do not offer snow removal services. From late fall through spring, a 4WD or AWD vehicle equipped with winter-rated tires is required 2WD vehicles and summer tires are not suitable and are likely to become stuck. Please remain on the driveway when arriving, as it provides a direct route to the home. Other things to note We want every guest to have an exceptional stay, so please take a moment to review the information below before booking. Moose Tracks is our family mountain home, NOT A PARTY HOUSE. We're looking for guests who will enjoy it as much as we do by treating it with care and respect, keeping the home neat and tidy, and helping preserve it for future visitors. If you're looking for a peaceful mountain getaway, you'll feel right at home here. Please note: If you or anyone in your group has pet allergies, this home may not be a good fit. Pets occasionally visit the property with their owners, so pet hair may be present despite thorough cleaning. Park County regulations require the following: No campfires or portable charcoal grills. No outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, or any ember-producing equipment. No shooting of firearms or other weapons. No ATVs or other unlicensed vehicles on county roads. Maximum occupancy of 6 guests at all times (per our county license), regardless of the number of beds. No outdoor music. Wildlife is one of the highlights of staying at Moose Tracks. It's common to see moose, deer, elk, bears, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, and many bird species throughout the property. For everyone's safety, please store all trash and food in the provided bear-resistant containers and never leave food outdoors. Although you're surrounded by nature, you'll stay well connected. Moose Tracks offers reliable Wi-Fi and strong LTE service from most major carriers, making it easy to stream, work remotely, or keep in touch. Inside, you'll find a Roku TV with a DVD player in the living room, plus a second Roku TV and game console in one of the queen bedrooms. While we hope you'll spend most of your time exploring the mountains, a cozy movie night by the fire is always a great way to end the day. Finally, our home sits at 10,200 feet, higher than Breckenridge and many surrounding towns. Visitors who aren't accustomed to high elevations may experience altitude sickness, especially when consuming alcohol or participating in strenuous activities. We encourage you to research high-altitude travel before your trip, stay well hydrated before and during your stay, and take it easy on your first day to help your body adjust.
