Five minutes’ walk away is the village of Pulham Market, a really pretty village with a picturesque green, medieval church and thatched cottages, with a good village shop and two pubs. The nearby towns of Harleston and Diss offer shops, cafes, supermarkets and more restaurants. Diss has a train station with direct links to London, Norwich and the coastal villages. The city of Norwich is just 15 miles away with two indoor shopping malls, cathedral, castle museum, market square, theatre, cafes and many restaurants. The Norfolk and Suffolk coastline with sandy beaches are within an hours’ drive. Traditional seaside resorts such as Great Yarmouth offer plenty of family seaside fun. Southwold is a great traditional seaside town with a pier. You’ll find sandy beaches backed with dunes at Corton, Gorleston and Caister on sea. The Waveney Valley and Norfolk Broads offer great boating activity. Hire your own day boat, try canoeing or kayaking. With miles and miles of inland waterways, rich with bird life, they are well worth exploring. Market towns and boat hire are available in Beccles and Bungay within a 30 minute drive.
