This quaint cottage will be your home away from home. Enjoy the scenery and explore local attractions. The farm house is situated just feet from Joseph Preli Farm and Winery (also owners of the farmhouse) with its bountiful grapevines, fruits and vegetables. The farm and vineyard is known for it's old-world Italian charm. Family owned for 100 years, they respect history by using traditional farming methods and antique tractors. See updates about the farm and winery at @jprelifarm The farm house is charming, charismatic and minimal all at once. It is situated at the crest of the farm's gradual hill. The farm stand, winery, and private home are at the base of this land allowing you privacy (please see the map in the photo gallery for clarity). Yet - close enough for you to walk down for a drink or grab vegetables for dinner. The house has a neighbor close by on one side. We are on a tree-lined but busy street. Notes on the house: - key pad entry - screened-in porch - compact convection oven - breakfast nook - large dining room that seats eight - living room seating for three - four people - three bedrooms are upstairs (two queen bedrooms, one full) - sitting room upstairs - bathroom upstairs (it is small, fits one person at a time) - two AC units installed in windows (one upstairs, one downstairs) - compost, recycling and trash bins - access to TV streaming services (you must log into your subscriptions) - washer and dryer are in the unfinished basement (steep steps) - no dishwasher - no central air conditioning, window units are provided - security camera is on property for safety You can access the entire house. We are available 24/7 for all guest needs. You will be able to contact myself (Lizzy), John & Jeanne, the owners of the farmhouse. South Glastonbury is known for its preserved farm lands and Italian heritage so we are part of a vibrant and friendly farm community. As a result we have incredible restaurants with farm fresh local fare. South Glastonbury has a it's own classic New England style village of its own while downtown Glastonbury is just a 10 minute drive away. The greater Hartford area is riddled with farm-to-table, casual or fine dining experiences, endless hiking, and we have been experience a boom of new breweries and wineries popping up everywhere. Across the street: - Cotton Hollow Nature Preserve 5-10 minute drive from: - South Glastonbury Village - Where you will find our favorite local coffee shop, market, restaurants and bars. Many of which have our cider on tap and our produce on the menu. - SoG Coffee Roasters - Sayulita - 2 Hopewell - Thai House - Cotton Hollow Kitchen - Hops on the Hill Brewery - Crystal Ridge Winery - The Old Cider Mill - Rocky Hill - Glastonbury Ferry - The nation's oldest continuously operating ferry service - Connecticut State Forest - Whole Foods 20 minute drive from: - Hartford Rhode Island beaches - 1.5 hour drive Boston - 1 hour and 45 minute drive New York City - 2 and a half hour drive Swimming Pools - Grange Pool is a 2 minute drive from the house. Grange Pool and Addison Pool are the only two swim clubs in town that allow non-residents. Due to COVID, you must register for a time slot ahead of time online. All of this information can be found at glastonbury-ct.gov Swimming elsewhere - Eastbury Pond - Devil's Hopyard State Park - Lake Pocotopaug - Lake Terramuggus - Gay City State Park - Day Pond State Park - Pattaconk Reservoir - Moodus Reservoir *Please check online to ensure these are open for swimming as this can change due to COVID *ct.gov has great information on swimming You will need a car to get around. We are a 15 minute car ride from the Hartford train and bus station. The CT Rail runs between New Haven and Springfield. New Yorkers can take the Metro North to connect to CT Rail at New Haven Union Station, we then advise getting a ride or taking a car service to the farm house. NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND NO PETS THE HOUSE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR INFANTS, SMALL CHILDREN & THOSE WITH MOBILITY CHALLENGES The stairs are steep due to the fact that this is an old house.
