Ground floor apartment in a former 1780's inn has spacious living area, ideal for a couple ready to explore Peak District National Park 1 mile away. Located 900 feet above sea level with stunning views just a stroll away. Parking off road on its own drive for 2 cars. The apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen with full oven /hob and fridge freezer, washer dryer. Dining / Lounge area with wifi / smart TV Just minutes from Matlock, Wirksworth, Cromford and Bakewell. The space The separate ground floor apartment forms part of an old inn called the Miners Standard which dates back to around 1766. It has all the charm of a character derbyshire mining village with all the creature comforts of modern living inside. We have high quality double bed including a pocket sprung / memory foam mattress. With high quality count bedding and anti allergy quilts and pillows. Branded products throughout in the kitchen and a JVC multimedia TV / DVD for your relaxing time in front of the tv. We even have an electric log burner style unit giving you the cosy feeling of a real fire in the living area (This is not a heater, just for effect) Great for your cosy selfies together. The apartment is heated wholly by gas central heating system with the temperature fixed at between 20c and 21c between 6.30am to 11pm during the colder months. This is not changeable. It's what comes with 250 year old stone cottages 1000ft above sea level. Guest access You will have access to the apartment via its own private front door. There is a back door out to the smoking area and steps up to the back garden and allocated decking / outdoor seating area. You will be met by Helen and Rod to show you around upon arrival and check-in. There is parking available on our driveway for stays in the apartment for 2 guests cars only. Other things to note In the pretty village of Middleton-by-Wirksworth, close to the High Peak Trail and near to Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, the location is second to none! There are also many fantastic walks available direct from the door for those who enjoy exploring on foot. Cromford nestles in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site and is home to the Arkwright Museum. On site there is a wonderful shopping outlet as well as the working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. A couple of miles away you will discover Carsington Water offering watersports and cycle hire as well as an excellent visitors centre with a restaurant and coffee shop. Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the Ecclesbourne Valley railways in nearby Wirksworth, and the fabulous Tramway Museum in Crich along the valley. Climbers are spoilt for choice with the Gritstone Black Rocks a short walk away, and the superb limestone crags nearby to explore. Let’s not forget the amazing stately homes and gardens dotted around this beautiful area to explore, such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall to name but a few. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 500 yards. Walkers and cyclists enjoy an unrivalled choice of waymarked paths – offering routes to suit every ability, from gentle riverside paths to challenging long-distance routes. But many people visit the area simply to enjoy a gentle stroll around one of the many unspoilt villages. Market towns of Bakewell, Wirksworth are all unique in style and character. wealth of historic houses, including splendid Chatsworth, medieval Haddon Hall & World Heritage Site.
