The space The separate ground floor apartment forms part of an old inn called the Miners Standard which dates back to around 1766. It has all the charm of a character derbyshire mining village with all the creature comforts of modern living inside. We have high quality double bed including a pocket sprung / memory foam mattress. With high quality count bedding and anti allergy quilts and pillows. The apartment features quality branded kitchen products and a JVC multimedia TV/DVD player, perfect for relaxing evenings together. An electric log-burner style feature fire adds a warm and cosy atmosphere to the living area — ideal for those relaxing nights in and memorable holiday photos. Heating is provided by a full gas central heating system, keeping the apartment comfortably warm at 20–21°C during the colder months. Set within a charming 250-year-old stone cottage nearly 1,000 feet above sea level, the apartment offers all the character and cosy comfort you would expect from a Peak District retreat. Guest access Guests have access to the apartment through its own private front entrance, giving you complete independence throughout your stay. A rear door leads to the outdoor smoking area, with steps up to the garden and your own dedicated decking and seating area — perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the Peak District. Private parking is available on our driveway for up to 2 guest cars. Other things to note Set in the beautiful village of Middleton-by-Wirksworth, our apartment is perfectly located for exploring the very best of the Peak District. Close to the High Peak Trail and within easy reach of Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, it’s an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, climbers and history lovers alike. Fantastic walks begin right from the doorstep, ranging from gentle countryside strolls to more challenging Peak District routes. Cyclists also have an excellent choice of scenic trails and waymarked paths nearby. Nearby Cromford, set within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, is home to the historic Cromford Mills, where you can explore the story of the Industrial Revolution alongside independent shops, cafés and visitor attractions. Just a few miles away, Carsington Water offers watersports, cycle hire, lakeside walks, cafés and a visitor centre. Heritage enthusiasts can also enjoy the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Wirksworth and the famous Crich Tramway Village. The area is also perfectly placed for visiting some of England’s finest historic houses and gardens, including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
