Lichfields Cottage - North West Auckland

Lichfields Cottage is a peaceful country retreat located in Waimauku, a 40-minute drive from central Auckland. We are in the heart of wine country, surrounded by local vineyards and close to local wedding venues including The Hunting Lodge, Kumeu Valley Estate, Settlers and Markovina. The space The Cottage sleeps six guests and is located in the gardens of the owner’s traditional white villa; your stay is completely private with your own private garden overlooking the horse paddocks next door. At Lichfields we specialise in wedding accommodation and part of your booking includes using the grounds for photography, including the verandas of the main house which make a beautiful backdrop for your photos. Lichfields is set on just over six acres with a pond, native trees and bush in a tranquil rural location. We are just 12 minutes away from Muriwai beach and 10 minutes from Riverhead Forest making for a perfect country retreat with lots to explore in the local area. The space Lichfields Cottage is tastefully decorated with wooden panelling and traditional french doors, we have considered everything you may need and are happy to provide anything additional on request. The cottage has beautiful indoor-outdoor flow with a covered deck, tall hanging space for long dresses, super comfortable beds and lovely cotton sheets which makes for the perfect country escape so you can relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Cottage is a perfect spot to stay as a bridal party, or wedding guest with plenty of space to get ready, champagne glasses and lots of room of parking for your make up artists/ photographer and guests. The cottage has a heat pump making is cool in summer and cosy in winter. A lovely spot to snuggle up on the sofa and watch Netflix, read a book and spend time with friends and family. A simple complimentary breakfast is provided for you to help yourselves with a selection of cereals, bread, local free range eggs from our chickens (when they’re laying), milk, butter and jam. Tea and coffee are provided. The pool is warm late November to early April and is located behind the main house. Access to the pool is all yours for the duration of your stay, pool towels are provided. Tennis racquets are balls are provided if you wish to have a game of tennis. Our Cottage surrounds have been featured in several tv shows as a filming location including Married at First Sight and Cooks on Fire. Please contact us if you wish to film on site as there is a minimum charge of $1,250 per day (8 hours). If you are requiring a slightly earlier check-in or later checkout - we are more than happy to try & accommodate this if we are able, however, please enquire as it depends if we have bookings on either side of your stay. Our family home is next door to the Cottage and we love our animals! We have two friendly dogs Clover and Crackle, our cat Maximus and 11 chickens. If you are not a dog person please do let us know and we will keep them around the back during your stay. Guest access Check-in anytime from 2:30pm Check-out any time before 10am The cottage has a white sign outside, there is plenty of parking on the driveway outside the cottage or alternatively on the tennis court. Other things to note Please note that we do not allow events on site. Our family home is next door to the Cottage; however the cottage is very peaceful and private with just the horses next door for company and the sound of birdsong.
