Travelling with friends or adult family group, then book our twin eco-cabin, Sidr HomeAway 4619145 The modern bathroom suite with rainshower is stocked with eco-friendly products and hotel quality bath and hand towels. The attached kitchenette is equipped with a Whirlpool fridge/freezer, crockery and utensil cupboard, granite counter-top, kettle, cafetiere, salad bowl, supplies and all utensils and crockery. A wardrobe provides hanging and shelf storage for longer stays and there you will find pool towels, a hairdryer, torch, lamp and sundry odds and ends. The cabins are offset from each other for maximum privacy and have a small secluded deck with space for table and chairs for breakfast or chilling at sunset. Alternatively take your meals in the central outdoor kitchen area landscaped with shade and fruit trees, aloe and lemon grass. Shared outdoor space for guest includes:- • central purpose-built, roofed BBQ kitchen with BBQ equipment, electric oven, microwave, cooking utensils and condiments • landscaped area with dining table and chairs and lounge chairs; • swimming pool • Yoga deck and plunge pool • open air games room with table tennis table and foosball • Large indoor reception majlis with comfy soft furnishings and bean bags for indoor relaxation and board games • boules/petanque pitch • walking perimeter track. We supply guests with cereals, yoghurt, and breads for breakfast as well as stocking your kitchenette with filter coffee, tea and herbal infusions, fresh milk and bottled water for drinking. We also provide the usual condiments, cooking oils/utensils and equipment for cooking in the outdoor kitchen. Depending on the season you may pick ripe vegetables, fruit, herbs, lemongrass for tea/infusion growing on the Farm for your personal consumption while you are with us. Other food supplies may be purchased from supermarkets or small restaurants and local tea/coffee shops in nearby villages and towns. We recommend you buy a local sim card with data on arrival at the airport (approx. $15 from either Omantel or Oreedoo desks). The Oasis has phone reception and 4G signal. We are still too remote for wifi but this presents the perfect opportunity for the digital detox you have been promising yourself! We cannot promise you silence however; you will awaken to birdsong and bees humming in the trees, and sleep to the sound of a rustling breeze and chatter of crickets. We can promise however a beautiful natural setting, fresh air and wide-open spaces in which to relax, wind-down and switch off (literally and metaphorically). We regret that we cannot accommodate extra guests, including infants, children or pets. Guest access Guests are free to explore the Oasis keeping to the main paths and to use all the amenities. The owner’s pool and patio is open to guests from 8.30-11.30am and 15.30-18.30pm. Please note as this is a desert farm you may encounter all manner of small creatures and bugs. We cannot rule out the occasional scorpion or grass snake. For this reason we advise keeping to paths and cleared ground and consider the Oasis unsuitable for children. Guest interaction We will usually be on hand at the farm and contactable by phone. If for any reason, we are not immediately available, there will always be someone on hand at the property to assist you. We are happy to give you recommendations during your stay should you so wish or fix a time to tour the farm but otherwise will leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquility. Other things to note Dress Code Oman is a tolerant but conservative society where great store is placed on modest behaviour and dress. This is particularly the case outside Muscat and applies to both men and women. The guiding principle is that arms, legs and chest up to the collar bone should be covered. Most comfortable attire for women means midi dresses with leggings or trousers/capri pants with half or long-sleeved tops preferably to thigh level. Women may wish to keep a large scarf or lightweight shawl handy for additional coverage in the event you are invited into homes. It is acceptable for men to wear short-sleeved shirts/t-shirts and long shorts i.e. at least knee level. Short shorts, sleeveless tops, tight fitting or see-through clothing are not acceptable on either men or women. We request that you observe this dress code at all times on the farm while outside the pool area. Changing rooms and showers are provided by the pool for you to change and shower before and after your swim. Climate Oman’s climate is subtropical dry, hot desert with low annual rainfall and very high summer (June to September) temperatures. However, the terrain is diverse and the climate as varied as the geography. Lizq Oasis has its own micro-climate created by the mountains that encircle it at a distance. While it can be hotter than Muscat we tend to have more frequent – always welcome – cloudbursts in the summer months. As a rule of thumb, the best time to visit is from October to April when temperatures range from a very pleasant 22°C (70°F) to around 35°C (95°F) during the day. As usual in a desert climate, the difference between day and night temperatures can be marked. Be prepared to don a sweater for sitting outdoors at night. By the end of April and through May temperatures reach around 40°C (100°F) before ratcheting up to 45°C (113°F) in July/August. While sightseeing is not recommended in the summer months, the summer nights are balmy after the scorching days and perfect for star-gazing. At any time of year, it is critical to wear a hat, sunscreen and, most of all, keep hydrated. Make sure you carry sufficient water supplies when travelling around. Mosquitoes are a fact of life in the cooler months. We advise keeping the screen door and window screens closed at all times. Planting around the huts is mainly lemon grass and basil to repel mosquitoes and minimise watering. Mosquito repellent is available upon request.
