Peon Palace Cottage on Rose River by Blue Ridge

The house was built in the early 1900s. It sits not in the woods, but under trees, with the Robinson River trout stream at the rear, and our village road in front The cottage is two floors, sleeping 12, with a living room and wood stove, large kitchen and dining area off the living room, upstairs two bedrooms each with 1 double and 2 twins, while downstairs, theres one bedroom with two double beds. Two bathrooms, both downstairs. The space Peon Palace - named by the young lads who worked at Graves, who were at the bottom of the pecking order - the Peons - but had their own house - their Palace. It may have been their palace, but it’s not fancy. The lads are not there but the stream is - just behind it and the Old Blue Ridge Turnpike is still out front. The main lodge, for three meals a day if you wish not to cook - family farmhouse style southern cooking - is 300 yards up the hill, where there is also the Jr Olympic size pool for you, stables, fishing, hiking and guided activities (rock climbing, fly fishing on Rapidan- naturalist hikes). Meals: we have "old style meal plans" at 20% discount for 2 or 3 meals a day, down at the farm lodge. with our Family Style, home cooked southern restaurant where all folks dine at long communal tables. This is community here and a continuation of farm dinners at big tables through the three centuries that we've farmed the valley. You can join a meal plan at the lodge for a 20% discount, while 14s and under get a great discount - half price - with 5 and unders are for free. Guest access The entire cabin and grounds. They are all yours. Plus you have our 1100 acres, our main lodge, restaurant and seasonal swimming pool, stables, and fishing on another stocked river.
