Birch Hollow is a sunny one bedroom, one bath apartment on ten acres in a lovely area of Central Vermont. Sleeps four with futon couch in living room. Deck out back has a wooded view to Curtis pond (77 acres). The area boasts a vibrant community, local ponds for swimming and paddling, as well as possibilities for skiing, snow-shoeing, hiking, and biking. 'Birch Hollow' is a sunny upstairs 'apartment' with an open floor plan, which has a deck out back with a wooded view to Curtis Pond. Can sleep four comfortably with queen bed in bedroom and a double futon in living room. The kitchen is well-equipped. We've been told it is also a great place for a writer's retreat. Apartment upstairs is self contained, with deck out back looking toward the pond. (garage below not included.) There are a few acres of woods to enjoy, with trails to pond, and canoe, kayak, rowboat, and petal boat available for paddling. We live across the road, and are available if you need us. Happy to say hello and offer any info. we can about the area, and/or happy to preserve your privacy. We also enjoy the land and use it to access the pond. Our paths may cross there! This area of Central Vermont, just 10 miles north of the capital, Montpelier, boasts a vibrant community. The land abuts Curtis Pond with a dock and kayak or canoe or rowboat. There is a wonderful local store a mile down the road in Maple Corner, as well as the home of 'the Whammy Bar' offering live music Thursdays (open mike night) through Saturdays. They also have delicious fare. The Maple Corner Community Center is still using funds raised from 'the Men of Maple Corner' calendar to host activities such as the Fourth of July parade and party, and a Mardi Gras winter celebration in February on Curtis Pond! There are plenty of opportunities to explore the local area's many ponds, swimming, canoeing or kayaking, skiing right from your door, hiking, and biking, local walks, and local theatre, as well as Shao Shan Zen Buddhist Temple just down the road. In Montpelier, there are many great restaurants, a local coop, and unique shops, and of course, the capitol building (which is open for tours for those liking a little history.) Hardwick, the 'town that food made', eleven miles to the north, provides other options for dining, as well as a local coop. Stowe, Waitsfield, and Burlington, all an hour away, offer many further options for dining, skiing, shopping, hiking, water sports, bike paths, and simply enjoying the beauty of Vermont. Or, stay at home at Birch Hollow, and enjoy a retreat! There is plenty to do right in the neighborhood! No public transportation in the area. Car necessary. (or a bike, depending how far you like to ride!) We will have some better pictures up one day!
