Wake up on top of the world. Gorgeous camp site on private 108 acre property on top of a 9000 foot mesa just a 25 minute drive from Telluride and a 25 minute drive from Ridgeway. The property is 108 acres, part of a homeowners association, so the roads are well maintained. There is running water from a central well, and beautiful peace and seclusion. Share with the elk and the night stars. There is a compositing Swedish toilet and solar battery. This is camping at its finest (not glamping ;) You can enjoy the full 108 acres, it’s wide open with an aspen grove. The spot to camp is marked with the sign ‘home site’. The forest on the hill is public land and you can hike there. It’s at 9200 feet so prepare for that. Weather can change quickly, it can get cold at night, and mid summer tends to be the rainy season. You can walk the entire 108 acres Self check in, but we are always available by phone and email. The property is a 25 minute drive from Telluride, and a 25 minute drive from Ridgeway. Great hiking, swimming, hot springs and restaurants in Telluride and Ridgway. You definitely need a car, and I would recommend all wheel drive to be safe on the dirt roads, there are some steep ones coming from Telluride. Amazing star gazing on clear nights, the county is a dark sky community. There is absolutely no hunting or disturbing the wild life. There are sometimes 100 elk that roam freely, and sheep that graze, and we respect their right to the property. There are also two old cabins on the property that should not be disturbed. It can get cold at night since it is 9200 feet. We have a small cabin that is in-progress. Behind the cabin there is a composting toilet and solar charging station. The composting toilet is a very simple and elegant design. It separates liquids from solids. The solids go into a compostable bag. You will need to take the bag from the composting toilet and dispose of it in a public trash when you leave. The solar charged battery bank works great for charging phones or laptops. There is limited phone service on the mesa. AT&T are Verizon are good, T Mobile works by the main road. Please stay updated on San Miguel county rules regarding COVID and open fire regulations. Currently there are no camp fires allowed because of the drought. This is camping - not glamping - so please be aware before booking. Make sure to arrive at least two hours before sunset to ensure you find your way ok.
