"House of Tranquility!" Private Apt., Great Area!

Lower level of high ranch apartment includes large LR/kitchen, separate BR & private bath. Nice queen bed with great new mattress, pullout couch in LR, laundry room, 2 TV's, Wifi, etc. It is a separate apartment from upstairs of house where I live. Quiet area of Huntington, easy access to train, LIE, etc although not much in walking distance. Off street parking for 1 car and that is all Im allowed to have per town short term rental rules. The space Lower level of hi ranch includes large LR/kitchen combo and separate BR. Fully furnished with queen sized bed. There is also a pullout couch and love seat in LR. You will have key to house & separate, lower level apartment to come & go as you please. In season there is a beautiful yard with in ground pool, can arrange schedules for use. (Pool season is generally open beginning of June to shortly after Labor day. Please check for exact dates if your visit is around then.) Nice quiet residential street not far from Huntington village and even closer to town of Greenlawn, train to NYC etc. LR has 3 windows and gets good sunlight late afternoons. Since the house is on a hill, the BR and part of the kitchen are subgrade but both of those have small windows. There is full tub/shower in updated bathroom. Plenty of closets, washer & dryer. Kitchen has fridge/freezer, double sink, stove top (no oven), plus microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and teapot. There are dishes, pots, pans etc in cabinets. Towels & linens are provided. There is an AC & a Smart TV in LR and another TV in BR. I have a roof antennae for main TV which gets about 80 channels plus all the apps are available. The BR TV is just Roku and apps such as Tubi which works great. There is no AC in the BR however the one from LR can cool it down. There are 2 fans, a music system with radio, CD etc. PLEASE READ THE NEXT 3 PARAGRAPHS: There are quite a few steps to get into the house without a hand railing; not a problem for most people but has presented a challenge for a few older guests. The few negative comments Ive received have mainly been during prolonged wet/humid periods (often late Summer) when the apt. can have a slight damp smell to those sensitive to that, so please consider whether that may bother you. There is a dehumidifier and air filter you can choose to run, but most don't need them, as the AC and fans help greatly. Also most are not at all concerned by the oil burner, which occasionally runs in a separate room near the bedroom, but was an issue for a more sensitive guest. In summary I would say if you are looking "pristine", or "totally updated" this is probably not the place for you. It's not the "Four Seasons" and priced accordingly! Same goes for pool, here on Shady Lane, its very hard to prevent leaves, etc from falling in and a little algae. The water is generally crystal clear and depending on my work schedule, it may not be "pristine", but fine for swimming. Please ask if you have questions. I say all that b/c well over 90% of guests love it here, some have returned 3 or 4 times. But now and then I get someone who is very fussy about minor things, typical of an older house, or things Ive already mentioned like steps or potential for humidity. If you are generally easy going and like a homey, somewhat retro style feel, then your positive energy will be added to the "house of tranquility here"! I will be happy to assist you plan visit to nearby attractions, (For example within minutes Walt Whitman house & Sagamore Hill - Teddy Roosevelt's estate, gold coast mansions such as Vanderbilt, great kayaking along the Nisseaquogue River,etc) towns, beaches, restaurants, east end wineries etc. If you forget something let me know, I may have it. You can borrow a bicycle, fishing polls, etc. Free amazing magic upon request too! 2 night minimum typically applies, particularly for weekends. We do not rent for parties or movie shoots! Im only allowed 1 car out front as town has tried to shut down short term rentals, and can only have 2 for a short stay and at least 1 will be gone for much of the time. I encourage longer term stays, with 27% discount on monthly stays! Weekly stays are discounted by 10%. PET POLICY: Due to problems with previous guests' pets, the following rules apply. Well behaved pets are allowed at $50 per stay per pet.. Pets should not be left unattended in the apt. unless we discuss it first. If you have a "hyper vigilant dog" that will incessantly bark every time I go near adjoining laundry room or garage, they are not welcome. Nor or pets that chew or go on floors. Thanks for understanding. I have 2 friendly basset hounds which of course will not be in guest area. Its possible there could be a slight doggy odor when you first enter house, before proceeding down to Apt. You may also just hear them bark a little when I come home and feeding time. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have before booking! Guest access Full Apt with private Bath. Laundry room and yard are shared with me, but I give guests priority. Other things to note It is a separate apartment. We share same front door, I go up and guests go down half a flight of stairs to apartment which locks separately. Im the only one that lives upstairs and there are no other rental units on the property.
