Just two miles away is the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre whilst a cruise on one of Ullswater's motor yachts is also worth investigating – these leave hourly from Pooley Bridge, just five miles from Great Strickland. Dalemain Historic House, which was used as a backdrop in a television adaptation of Jane Eyre, is nearby as is the Rheged Discovery Centre, giving visitors a wide selection of holiday activities.
