Chevanceaux is nicely situated in the Charente maritime, 45 minutes from Bordeaux & its Merignac airport. Less than hour to Cognac, the medieval town of Jonzac & the beautiful St. Emilion. No pets. The space Chevanceaux is a small town in the heart of wine country. The gite is set in the countryside surrounded by forest, vineyards and open fields as far the eye can see. The gite is in a large plot of land surrounded by trees, and large open gardens, complete with a small orchard which guests are welcome to pick their own fresh fruit when ripe. Enjoy a BBQ and let the kids run free in the large play area which has a slide and swings, and outdoor games for the family to let their competitive side loose. A brand new above ground pool with terrace surround for you to play and/or relax on a sunbed. Alternatively you can sit in the beautifully calm lounge with the large patio doors open and just enjoy the peace and quiet, and listen to the birds singing, and watch the rabbits hoping around. Make your meals in the new kitchen, which has a senseo coffee machine, microwave, and dishwasher (who wants to wash up on holiday!) Or, alternatively pop into town and try the restaurants out. Le Grain de Sel also does takeaway pizza twice a week for those days you just want to do nothing, but relax and have a break. For those who are more active, there is a 13.4km green route starting in Chevanceaux, go for a walk or run down the quiet, picturesque, country route, or bring a bike and go for a ride! In town you will find the vineyard of Bertrand, Feynard, and 4 îles, where it is possible to arrange a tasting experience of local wine, pineau and brandy. We are centrally located for plenty of amazing day trips, from the cultural visit to St Emillion, to visit the beautiful and historic town, full of wineries, restaurants, beautiful churches and home the traditional maccaron. Or pop into Bordeaux for a day of shopping and cultural beauty. Or visit the sandy beaches in Royan for the day, take a dip or sunbathe, or even try some of the activities on the sea. You can visit the childrens theme park La Coccinelle for a day of rides and animal petting in the mini zoo, or pop over to the waterpark next door for a fun day of flumes. Visit the stunning chateau des énigmes for a brilliant pirate themed treasure hunt or escape room. There are of course Chateaus abound to visit and explore. If you visit us in Easter, there will be an Easter egg hunt for the children to take part in. Wednesday the local Coop sells fresh fish and seafood. Saturday from 9am - 1pm there is a market in town selling produce. Sunday from 9am-1pm there is a local oyster farmer selling fresh oysters. Guest access Private gite with own front garden and access to play area for children including swings and slide. Other things to note Chevanceaux is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive by car. It is a small town which boasts a patisserie, a Boulangerie, a Boucherie, a mini market, a bar/tabac, 2 restaurants, a pharmacie, hairdresser, swimming pool and florist. During the spring there is a triathlon, a rock festival in the summer and winter and the fetes de marrons in the autumn, every third Sunday in October, food, wine brocante and market. Starting in the town is the green route cycle path which runs along the old train track and is 13.4km in length. In close proximity there is a supermarket, leisure lake, golf course, the mysterra labyrinths, zoo, beaches, theme park, water parks, medieval towns, chateaus, wine tasting and vineyard tours.
