The space The Harmony Retreat is located less than 2 miles north of Mossyrock, WA (20 miles east of I-5's exit 68, off US Hwy 12/White Pass Scenic Byway), on the east end of beautiful Mayfield Lake in a quiet, upscale lakeside neighborhood of mostly vacation homes, with some year-round residents. The west-facing custom-built home across the street from the lake (not lakefront) has filtered lake views from most rooms and from the covered deck. In the evening, watch the sun set over the glistening lake, and at night, gaze at the stars shining brightly in the night sky, unobstructed by city lights. In winter, snow sports are just an hour away at White Pass Ski Resort and Mt. Rainier National Park. ACCOMMODATIONS The home is well-equipped for a family or small group to enjoy, yet intimate enough for a couple's romantic getaway. The primary bedroom upstairs has a king bed and twin convertible chair-bed. The cozy room also has a vaulted ceiling and ceiling fan, comfortable chairs for reading/relaxing, 32" Chromecast smart TV, and a full bathroom with a soaking tub and double sinks. On the main level, the other bedroom has a queen bed and colorful boho decor, and a 32” Chromecast smart TV. Across the hall, there's a second bathroom with tub/shower. Besides the 2 bedrooms, other sleeping options in the open/non-private areas include: * a full size bed tucked into the alcove of the open loft adjacent to the upstairs bedroom * a twin rollaway bed There's a portacrib for little ones, and two single sleeping mats that can be used outside on the deck if you want an outdoor sleeping/napping experience. The Harmony Retreat's Great Room invites the outside in with its two-story wall of windows facing Mayfield Lake. This room features a wood-burning fireplace, 40” smart HDTV with DVD player, hardwood floors, ceiling fan, and two spacious sofas. The large, open kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to enjoy cooking and baking, including a new Jenn-Air range. The dining table and counter bar together seat 8. The Harmony Retreat has secure wireless Internet access, so feel free to bring your tablet or laptop. There's a folding desk and chair available if you need to set up a remote workspace during your visit. Enjoy a variety of board games, books, magazines, and classic DVDs for all ages. Central heating and the fireplace make the home comfy-cozy in winter. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep things cool in the summer. There's a complete laundry room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board too. OUTSIDE The 1/3-acre property features richly varied naturescaping, with paths, garden art, seating spots, and many whimsical touches. Lovingly created by the original owners, these grounds are a retreat too, a place to immerse yourself in nature's beauty while walking the paths or viewing from the second floor deck or the hot tub below the deck. Relax on the patio, gather around the gas fire pit table to roast marshmallows, and share laughter and stories. No matter the weather, the covered deck off the main floor invites guests to enjoy the fresh air, with several seating areas, a hammock, two dining tables, and a Weber gas grill. NEARBY The private community dock is just down the street, where you can launch your motor boat for a day of fishing (lake is open for fishing year-round) or water-skiing. Or bring your jet-skis, canoe, kayak, or raft to explore the 13-mile lake and adjacent Cowlitz River canyons. (Note that there is no boat moorage or tow vehicle parking; boaters need to bring tow vehicle back to driveway, a short walk away.) Across the street and through a greenbelt, there's a community swimming dock, small beach area, and lakeside picnic table. At the other end of the lake (15 min drive), boat rentals are available at the marina. Bike, jog, or walk on scenic country roads that meander through forest and meadows, where you're likely to spot farm animals, fields of flowers, wildlife, birds, and vistas of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and the neighboring foothills. Or head out by car to visit the rural towns of Mossyrock (which has some fun shopping and eating options) and nearby Morton, explore nature trails and the lake at Ike Kinswa State Park, see Mossyrock Dam, take a day trip to Mt. Rainier National Park to hit the trails (remember to bring chains Nov. 1-April 30!), hike to waterfalls, and learn about the park's natural wonders at the visitors center, check out a nearby cidery/brewery, enjoy snow sports at nearby White Pass, go shopping at the outlet and antique stores and have lunch at historic McMenamins in nearby Centralia, take a steam train ride through the countryside, view Mt. St. Helens from the secluded northeast approach, and drive the back roads of this unique region. LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT This region sits on the traditional lands of the Cowlitz people, who have lived, traded, and traveled here since time immemorial. We honor the land itself and its Indigenous peoples, past and present. Guest access Guests have access to house, grounds, covered deck, hot tub, large driveway, but not garage. House is accessed by a flight of exterior stairs -- entrance is on second floor. The community boat launch down the street is available to guests to use but there is no moorage or tow vehicle parking. Guest can launch their boat then someone in the group needs to return the vehicle and trailer to the driveway. (Parking lot is for vehicles with permits only.) Other things to note Property may have exterior security camera pointing towards driveway to confirm compliance with occupancy limits etc. There are no interior cameras or cameras in outdoor gathering places. Pets are allowed ONLY in the off-season from October-May. They must be crated when guests are away from the house. Dog waste must be picked up and disposed in garbage. There is a $75/fee per pet, per stay; maximum 2 pets. While Airbnb may show a pet option for June-Sept., reservations with pets will not be accepted during those months. Guests are provided a rental agreement by email to review and sign. Must be returned within 24 hours of receipt. The rental agreement requires a list of all guest names and ages, direct contact phone and email address for renter, and information on vehicles, including boats, that will be at property (make, model, license plate). Directions and access code for keybox are sent after rental agreement is returned. Failure to agree to terms of rental agreement or to return it in timely manner will forfeit any nonrefundable amounts paid. Please ask if you have specific questions before booking your stay. No fireworks on property. No motorized vehicles are allowed off-road in community. No smoking/vaping anywhere on property ($500 fine). Before check-out, guests are asked to load and turn on dishwasher, put garbage in bin outside, leave beds unmade (putting bedding to be laundered in the laundry room is appreciated but not required), and return key to keybox after locking house. Cleaning fee covers linen change, basic cleaning, and sanitizing; if house is left excessively dirty, guests will be charged for extra cleaning.
