Welcome to Ollero Eco Lodge – we’re a family-owned environmentally friendly cottage retreat by the Ounasjoki river on the Arctic Circle. You’ve found the perfect base for your holiday in Rovaniemi: Ollero Eco Lodge sleeps 6 people (8 with extra beds) in a quiet location just outside the city. We’re a 10-minute drive from the city center with all its services and attractions, yet free of the fuss and light pollution – a prime spot for observing the Aurora Borealis and arctic nature. The space Ollero Eco Lodge is an environmentally friendly combination of comfort and rustic Lapland style. Ollero Eco Lodge is an ideal stay for couples, families and small groups who want to experience Lapland and the peace and quiet of arctic nature in an environmentally friendly way. A traditional Lapland cottage on the bank of the Ounasjoki river right outside the city of Rovaniemi, Ollero Eco Lodge is composed of three separate buildings (please see below for details). Enjoy your privacy: when staying here, all three buildings are reserved only for you. The large yard and nearby forest provide easy access to outdoor fun, whether exploring local nature, sledding or building snowmen tickles your fancy. Want to hunt for the Northern Lights? Just step out the door and you'll find yourself in a prime spot. There are three toilets in Ollero Eco Lodge, one in the Main Lodge and two additional eco-toilets in the Glass Igloo and the Sleeping Cabin. INCLUDED IN YOUR BOOKING: MAIN LODGE Step inside and fall in love with authentic Lappish comfort. The Main Lodge is a relaxing place with a lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with excellent food making facilities. The Main Lodge has a fully renovated bathroom with a shower and toilet. GLASS IGLOO Spend the night under a million stars in the warm comfort of your bed. The modern one-room Glass Igloo lies right by the Ounasjoki river, and its window wall provides a panorama view over the river and the northern sky. If lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights dance in the sky. Igloo is for 2 people. SLEEPING CABIN The Sleeping Cabin is a spacious and cosy, authentically Lappish two-bedroom building. The rustic furnishings and interior design pay respect to the history of Ollero in an environmentally friendly fashion. Enjoy a great night's sleep in this quaint cabin. If you are interested in renting only the igloo and the main lodge or you are more than 6 people, please contact us. SUSTAINABILITY We provide you an environmentally friendly stay in Lapland. At Ollero Eco Lodge, sustainability has been driving every decision from building materials and methods to energy consumption. For example more than 80 % of waste is recycled. Waste collectors in the main lodge and the igloo allow sorting waste to proper circulation. We use an electricity supplier that produces the electricity from entirely renewable energy sources such as wind and bioenergy. We choose eco-friendly products. All detergents used for cleaning and the guests´ shampoos & shower gels are highly eco-friendly. When cooking with us we provide only local and organic food ingredients. Ollero Eco Lodge retreat is your chance to relax and truly let go with friends, family and loved ones. It is a paradise for outdoor lovers. ACTIVITIES At Ollero Eco Lodge, we take the word 'real' to heart. We offer you a chance to experience local lifestyle and seasonal activities. Find below a list of experiences provided at Ollero Eco Lodge either free of charge or with an extra cost. - PANORAMA SAUNA & JACUZZI. On summer 2021 we built a brand new panorama sauna and a jacuzzi with a river and forest view. Guaranteed relaxation. After good steam, when you feel like cooling off, the sauna offers direct access to the river, where you can go walking on the snow and enjoy a refreshing swim, depending on the season. Price includes ecological towels, local refreshment, shampoo and showel gel. 250 eur/use. - SANTA CLAUS VISIT. A close friend of ours is a professional Santa Claus who can visit you during your stay in Ollero Eco Lodge. He is a friendly and talkative guy that will certainly be loved by kids. His strong Christmas expertise and know-how guarantee you the real magic of Christmas. Make sure you have some gifts for each other that he can give deliver as Santa does. 300 eur/group. - TRADITIONAL OPEN FIRE COOKING. Have you ever cooked a meal on open fire in a Lappish hut? Feel free to make a fire in our traditional Lappish hut. We are more than happy to guide you through on how to use it safely and what you can cook there. Please remember, when dealing with nature, you can't plan to perfection, and that's what makes the experience exciting. Free of charge. - SNOWSHOEING. During your stay, feel free to use our snowshoes and go walking on the ice, nearby forest or up to the Ollerovaara hills. Remember to wear warm winter shoes when using snowshoes. We are more than happy to show you how they work and plan a suitable route for you. “Take only photos, leave only footprints”. Free of charge. - FOREST WALK. We offer access to private nature trails/paths. The surrounding forest is a perfect place to do meditative walks, breathe fresh air, listen to how the snow and trees sounds like or pick-up blue berries and mushrooms in late summer and autumn. Free of charge. - SLEDDING HILL. Next to the sleeping cabin we have a build a sledding hill for the children. Feel free to borrow our sleds next to the cabin. Enjoy but be careful! This activity is at your own risk. Free of charge. - AURORA HUNTING. Ollero Eco Lodge is a perfect location to chase Northern Lights being just out of the light pollution of Rovaniemi. - FAT BIKES. We have 2 fatbikes to rent. It is great activity to cycle to the city or even go cycling on snowmobile routes on the river ice. 60 eur/bike/day or 100 eur/bike/whole holiday. Besides our activities, there is plenty to do and experience in Rovaniemi. Dog sledding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowboarding, fatbiking, reindeer farm etc. Ollero Eco Lodge is located next to a family run reindeer farm. It takes only 5 -10 min to walk there from Ollero Eco Lodge. Please ask for more information! Guest access Ollero Eco Lodge is private property (not shared with other guests). When booking the lodge you are renting the entire place and all three buildings (main house, glass igloo and the separate sleeping cabin).
