Sedgies On The Water

Sedgies is a beautifully appointed, comfortable home on the water’s edge with uninterrupted views across the lagoon at Sedgefield, Knysna's beachside suburb. Close to the mouth of the estuary, Sedgies is within walking distance of miles of unspoilt Garden Route beaches. The lower level home (with a single private residence above, often unoccupied) offers seamless indoor-outdoor flow & multiple decks. Full amenities & mod-cons (incl solar) it is furnished for stylish, easy, seaside living. The space As you walk into Sedgies and through to the decks, breath a sigh of relaxation at this wonderful place you’ve just arrived at. Located at one of the most beautiful places on the Garden Route - Sedgies is not only north facing on the water’s edge, it is also a mere few hundred meters (ie walking distance) from the lagoon mouth with miles of unspoilt beaches in either direction. Sedgies, with it’s relaxed, beach house vibe is a beautifully appointed, self contained household on the downstairs floor of an architecturally designed family holiday home. Whilst you will enjoy exclusive use of the property and home at Sedgies during your stay, you may find on occasion that Gail and Dudley are in residence upstairs. However do not let this put you off - they travel a LOT & when at home, are entirely mindful of guests’ enjoyment going out of their way to be as unobtrusive as possible (read: no entertaining, refrain from using their own decks, talking on their phones only in the attic etc). Our consistently high ratings attests to the fact that you will, no doubt, be one of our many happy guests we have hosted over the years. ACCOMMODATION: Sedgies has 4 bedrooms (with dedicated bathrooms) - 3 of which can be configured as king doubles or twin singles - and the home can sleep up to 10 people. Lake Room: absolute waterfront views, queen size double bed, en-suite bathroom Lagoon Room: absolute waterfront views, optional king-double or twin single bed configuration, dedicated bathroom down the passage. Sunset Room: faces west with slight water views, optional king-double or twin single bed configuration, a dressing room and a large en-suite bathroom with laundry machine. Garden room: is the quietest of the lot, has beautiful, peaceful forrest-garden views, a small en-suite and is very versatile in its accommodations. As with Lagoon and Sunset room it can be setup with either a king-double or twin single bed configurations for 2 guests with a small lounge area. Or the lounge space can be converted to 2 trundle beds turning the room either into a family room for 4 (king double & trundles) or a kids “bunk” room for 4 (twin singles and the trundles) LIVING: The well appointed kitchen has all the mod-cons including a gas stove and nespresso machine. It leads onto the open plan lounge-dining-sunroom and from there through large glass sliding doors onto the outside decks. The covered deck is usable all year round - protected from sun, wind and rain, whilst down on the sun deck you will find sun-loungers, cushions and umbrellas as well as 2 braai’s (BBQs - gas & coal) for your enjoyment of al-fresco cooking outside with magnificent views under the stars. FACILITIES: firstly - as most South African’s will appreciate - we have solar electricity! This will provide you with the most relaxing stay, regardless of whether Eskom institutes load shedding or not. The property has direct access to the lagoon and a semi-private beach and when coming up from the beach, or simply wishing for a relaxing shower with a view, there is a magnificent shower outside. You’ll have exclusive use of the grounds and pathways to the beach. THE PROPERTY: We’ve already described Sedgies and the private unit above. In addition to that, years ago we converted the old garage (which my grandad originally had in the 1940’s!!!), into a self contained, entirely separate cottage. It has it’s own parking, access and individual entrance, so whilst it’s small patio overlooks the back garden of Sedgies, the tenant there is unobtrusive and can be considered as no more than nearby neighbours whilst often providing a source of additional security and home maintenance/assistance. EXPLANATION OF PRICING: Our Base rate is for 1 bedroom (2 people) and exclusive use of the entire unit. We do not rent out the home to multiple groups. If your group has more than 2 people, we charge an affordable nightly rate per person thereafter to a maximum of 10. Please input the number of people (over 2yo) when making a booking so as to get an accurate quote. Guest access Our guests have exclusive use of our beautiful waterfront property. Whilst we may be in residence above, the unit below - where you will be staying - is entirely self contained with a lovely private front entrance, private decks and direct access to the water's edge. There is also private, free, offstreet parking. Other things to note Please note that we have a STRICT PET POLICY. Should you be travelling with your pet, please contact us to arrange - we take a R2,000 deposit and a R300 cleaning fee for additional cleaning incurred by household pets. Sadly this is necessary after a few previous rather horrid experiences. If you would like the pleasure of HOUSEKEEPING, we charge an additional R430/full day (9-4pm) or R300 for a half day (til lunchtime). We have a SEPARATE COTTAGE at the back of the property which is rented separately. Our cottage tenant does not impact on your space whatsoever, but you may see them on their porch.
