Pond House at Sykes Hollow Farm is in the gorgeous Mettowee Valley of Vermont with five friendly horses, entertaining chickens, mountain views and a host who cares about you and your holiday! The farm is a quiet, private, peaceful place with thirty acres to roam, but still close to Dorset and Manchester. This listing is more than just a rental, it's an entire farm! AND! The farm is now powered by solar! When you book the pond house you'll be participating in sustainable travel! The space The pond house offers MANY outside amenities including your own patio with a grill and a backyard with picnic table, hammock, Adirondack chairs and pond. There's also a pergola, swings and hammock which are shared with everyone on the farm. Inside you have a SMALL kitchen with a farm sink and barn board accents. The dining and living areas are sunny and bright. The bedrooms upstairs are cozy and have views of the pond. (The sheets are high thread count with cotton for the summer and flannel for the winter.)The upstairs common area is between the bedrooms and is perfect for reading, puzzles, artwork, games or napping. The one bathroom is upstairs and has a shower with tub. The pond house is attached to the main farm house, but completely separate with its own parking area and entrance. The farm is green and clean and now powered by the sun! I recycle, compost, use all natural cleaning products and wash all blankets/comforters EVERY time! You have your own washer/dryer and Nespresso machine with a selection of pods. You will enjoy strolling around the pastures and visiting the horses, exploring the crystal clear brook, swimming in the brook-fed pond and walking abutting scenic backcountry roads. The farm is a special place where you can relax and immerse yourself in nature, animals and peace. There are hammocks and swings, gardens, a brookside firepit area for enjoying the evening with s'mores and a pond-side pergola for your morning yoga or just relaxing. The farm is perfect for xc skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. I have bikes, kayaks, snowshoes and sleds if you would like to borrow. The farm is a special place where kids can enjoy being outside in a safe and supportive setting. The farm is a place for people who enjoy nature, wildlife, horses and care about the planet! I am an experienced classroom and outdoors educator and I love taking guests along with me for chores so they can learn how to care for the horses and chickens. I offer several services for guests upon request including children's beginner riding lessons, kayak trips and custom hikes. Some things to note: there are two steps to the patio to reach the front door, there is only one bathroom and it is upstairs, there is NO tv, but you have high speed wifi, the pond is NOT fenced and smoking is prohibited everywhere on the property. The farm does have a generator which means you will still have electricity if the area loses power. Other things to note The pond is NOT fenced! Shoes off inside the house, please! We care about the environment. We ask that you turn off lights/fans/AC... when you go out. Please close windows when it rains and when the heat/AC are on. Smoking is absolutely prohibited, inside or out. There is no tv, but there is great wifi through VTel's fiberoptic cable. There is a gate at the entrance to the farm. you must get out, open the gate, drive through and then close/latch the gate.
