Rustic yet comfortable; 100+ year old hunting lodge steeped in history. This beautiful year-round camp is one of the largest & most well-preserved on the lake. A beautiful retreat in stunning scenery year-round, Camp Liberty can be rented as a half house (ground floor) for smaller parties in Spring and Fall. This former hunting lodge (over 100 years old) is one of the largest and most well-preserved camps on one of Maine's most beautiful lakes. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Bedroom: 1 x double bed (door onto lower balcony for those stunning sunrises) Bunk Room: 2 x single beds and 2 x bunk beds INDOOR Large ornate stone fireplace Oil-fired central heating for colder days Electric stove and large oven Microwave Washer and dryer Fully equipped modern kitchen Bedding and house / swimming towels Bathroom with shower, toilet and sink OUTDOOR 300ft of personal lakeshore frontage and 56 acres of private woodland The balcony has a swing seat, hammock, chairs and large outdoor dining area that can fit 12 people easily. There is also a deck behind the house which is a real sun-trap and great for soaking up afternoon sun Outdoor fire-pit for camp fires and marshmallow roasting Depending on time of year, there may also be docks in front of the house and mooring for boats. When renting the Camp as a half-house, you will have access to the ground floor only. Upstairs and the basement are off-limits. PLEASE NOTE: Certain cupboards contain the owners' items and are off-limits. Please don't force any locked cupboards - they are locked for a reason! :) We like to leave you to it, but some things need maintaining, so the manager may pop by during the week. We are on the quieter end of the lake and have neighbours on either side a short walk through the woods. There's always lots going on around the lake - don't be surprised if you hear loons or owls at night, spot families of ducklings, whitetail deer, a bald eagle or two, and if you're lucky, a moose! Local town Farmington is a 10 - 15 minute drive away and has all local necessities plus a cinema, (inc. drive-in in summer), plenty of boutique shops, restaurants, a Walmart and Hannaford, an escape room, bowling, craft brewery, and more! There's no public transport, taxis or uber, so bring a car. Most vehicles will be fine for most of the year, but in spring it can get a little muddy and road conditions can change quickly! The driveway can be slippery / snowy in early Spring and late Fall months so make sure you have appropriate footwear and vehicles! It helps to have a strong vehicle like a 4x4 or AWD for both these seasons. PLEASE NOTE! The Camp is in the middle of the woods, and you will be close to nature. Don't be surprised if you see the odd squirrel, birds on the decking, and so on... There is NO WIFI and LIMITED RECEPTION We love this, and the ability to switch off has always been an enjoyable part of our renters' experience, and why we get repeat rentals every year. With some providers there is reception, but it is poor (lower porch is best). If you need to get online for any reason, you will need to provide your own means (i.e. a dongle). Pets are available on request- we just take a $50 cleaning fee to ensure housekeeping can spend a little extra time making the camp ready for the next guests. The fee is deducted from the security deposit.
