Alte Schule Kirmutscheid - Secluded location on the edge of the forest

The "Alte Schule Kirmutscheid" is a 190-year-old building in a secluded location. The school is located in the middle of the nature reserve in the forest. The building is listed both inside and outside. A small stream flows behind and in front of the school. It is the right place for nature lovers, but also for Nürburgring visitors, which is only a few minutes' drive away. You will live in the old school alone. The space Due to the strict monument protection, you can feel the atmosphere in which previous generations lived. If you expect contemporary comfort, you are in the wrong place. But if you love the flair of authentic old walls, you will enjoy it very much here. The teacher's apartment has a large outdoor terrace with a built-in, shady seating area with a barbecue. It cannot be reached from the house, but you have to go out the front door and behind the house. From the terrace you can reach the Trierbach directly via a natural stone staircase. The view from the terrace is unobstructed and extends over the Trierbach into the meadow and forest landscape. The terrace is fenced, but unsuitable for leaving dogs unattended there. The furnishing of the house was carried out according to monument protection specifications. The bathroom is a 70-year-old unique piece and deserves the name "(bath)room". In the large bedroom there is an old, hand-carved wedding bed, the two bedrooms behind it were combined into one chamber, which is divided by the truss. Heating is provided by an 8 kW pellet stove with thermostat which automatically ignites and maintains the temperature. Modern comfort is not to be found here, as the house should be authentic and a mix of old and new styles is not desired. Important: From November to April, the old school is only rented for 2 people, as the bedrooms with the other two beds cannot be heated. Dogs cost €4/night, electricity €0.36/kw/h, wood pellets €8.5/bag, payable on site. Guest access The apartment is on the first floor and is the only apartment in the schoolhouse. Behind the house is a spacious terrace with a covered seating area. Unfortunately, I had to remove the grill, as guests repeatedly lit a fire with logs in it, which is strictly forbidden at that point, since the fire could spread to the wooden beams there at any time. Other things to note Dogs are welcome guests and cost €4/dog/night (payable on site). Electricity is billed at €0.36/KW at the end of the stay. Heating material for the pellet stove is charged at €8.50 per 15 kg bag at the end of the stay. Every 14 days, a church service takes place in the neighboring church, which is over 500 years old. In the adjacent building of the school house (Zwergenschule) there is also a vacation apartment, which is completely separated from the old school both spatially and from the outside. In summer, you can hear the departure and arrival traffic on the B258 to the nearby Nürburgring on public holidays and on weekends.
