The space An original, architect-designed house, surrounded by 13,000 sq.m of private area with a beatifully designed set of terraces and pergola which acts as a barbecue area, in the midst of Serra da Arrabida. The house has 3 bedrooms with double beds, one with a double and a single bed, 2 bathrooms, living room with a fireplace nook, dining room and kitchen. The nearby area offers plenty of land and sea activities to do such as boating, fishing, dolphin watching, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking. The Azeitao region has great gastronomy and is a reputed wine producing area. Within a 10 minute drive from the famous Arrabida beaches, including the award-winning idyllic Galapinhos beach. Taxiboats to various stunning places - Troia, Troia Islet, Ribeira do Cavalo, to name a few - are widely available closeby. A bit of history... The property is named after the Mozambican term Maxamba, which stands for small farm. Our grandfather, Jose Gomes Pedro, who built this property, lived several decades in Mozambique with our family where he became a renowned tropical botanist. After returning from Mozambique, our grandparents settled in this house and our grandfather continued studying the Serra da Arrabida flora, having written books about it and was the first person to recognize the unique indigenous plant specie, Euphorbia Pedroi, which is named after him. The property has been with us since 2019 and we want to keep it in harmony with it's natural surroundings, while enjoying it with our family and friends. Guest access The guests will have exclusive access to all of the 13,000 sqm property, including the main house. The main house is very well equipped. Other things to note The property is located in the heart of Serra da Arrabida. The dry season is long and the property's sole water source is a well. Please be mindful of water use and fire hazard. Many of the plants in the property have been planted by our family. Please take special care of them. Our neighbour, Dona Fernanda, takes her heard of goats to our property, which helps us keep plant growth controled in a sustainable way. She is very nice and friendly. Registration Details 116107/AL
