Guest suite in Media

This little house is a cottage in the woods, that's not far from town, that's in an old-timey neighborhood. It is magically all of those things! All within walking distance to the heart of Media where there are more restaurants in five blocks than seems possible. The interior is full of light, space and comfort, combining old with new, all in a beautiful setting. Walking distance to the train and all public transportation to Philadelphia and beyond. The space This unique, charming setting is fueled by a desire to create a space that offers a sense of calm meditation nestled in the woods, but magically connected to the world by foot! You can walk to an award winning array of restaurants, or take the train to Philadelphia and explore the city, perhaps hike Ridley Creek State Park, Tyler or Scott Arboretum and many other local green spaces. Very close to Swarthmore College. An easy drive to Longwood Gardens, Brandywine Valley attractions and more. Our guest space is newly built on a turn of the last century foundation and put together with Southern yellow pine floors, cedar ceilings and shingles and modern creative design elements to make the “tiny home” open, cozy and bright. The sinks and tub are vintage cast iron from the 1920s-1940s, all rescued from local homes that were bound to be scrapped or sent to a landfill. They are not perfect, but we find them beautiful in their capacity to keep being useful. And we strive to hold onto some history while consciously deciding to reuse items despite their blemishes. We hope you love our embracing of past and present reflected in our wooded retreat. ***The suite has its own heating and cooling. Window A/C and electric baseboard heat. It has its own hot water heater. It does not share HVAC with the main house. The laundry machines are shared/used by others. Guest access This is a private suite that shares a breezeway with the main house. There is a common area for outdoor hanging out, watching the garden grow, or rising early to catch the deer in the backyard or to see the chickadees feed their young in the spring and summer. Please observe Quiet Hours 10pm-8am. No smoking on or near the property. No Guests. Other things to note No smoking anywhere on or near the property, that includes the entire street. We see deer and you may hear fox in the middle of the night. We have a small garden that we are trying to grow more of each year. And Birds, we have so many birds to watch! Four kinds of woodpeckers... And Tree Frogs (that we have a hard time catching a glimpse of) but that we can hear all night long in the summer. AND you can get all this and still walk to the heart of Media!
