About the host
Description
With its high green oak trusses, well-snuggled sofas and timeworn vintage rugs, The Barn at Fingals is the perfect home-from-home. It has floor to ceiling windows that overlook beautiful gardens allowing natural light to flood in, creating a space that feels roomy, warm and rustic. The holiday home benefits from a large open-plan kitchen-diner & lounge area, allowing you to cook, eat, drink and relax together. It also has a covered balcony, so alfresco dining can be on the cards rain or shine. The space The Barn has a very large open-plan sitting room on the first floor with a wonderful grand piano at one end. The dining area is adjacent to this and has a large dining table and open plan kitchen with all mod cons. On the same floor you’ll find a compact double bedroom and twin room. Both these rooms have access to a spacious family bathroom with roll top bath, so you can have a long relaxing soak after a day’s exploring. On the lower floor is the King-size bedroom, with an ensuite and access to its own private garden patio. If your group is larger than six people, you can also book our other Airbnb listing called ‘Peaceful Holiday Cottage’, which is next door and sleeps an extra four people accommodating in total a group size of 10. You will have the shared use of the grass tennis court, the gardens, the games room, gym, sauna and indoor heated pool. Guest access Guest access The Barn has a lovely sunny outlook with a covered private balcony overlooking the tennis court. It faces Southwest so it makes a perfect place to eat alfresco or have an evening aperitif with the glow of the evening sun. You have access to other amenities and are most welcome to use the free heated swimming pool, grass tennis court (May to September), croquet, snooker table or ping pong if you are feeling energetic. All of these facilities are shared with other guests. If you just want to chill out with a drink in our beautiful garden. Interaction with guests We love having people to stay and are very happy to give advice but we won't fuss over you like mother hens! Other things to note There is no need to exert yourself while you are here and you may just want to relax around Fingals in order to go home refreshed. We have a couple of bikes here that you can borrow, you could set up the croquet on the lawn, play a game of lawn tennis or have a swim and then warm up in the garden with a good book and a cup of tea. But there is so much on offer in our wonderful corner of Devon that you could pick a different activity and area to explore every day and still have to come back for more! There’s the village pub for meals without taking the car; and nearby gastro eateries to sample if you do. Other things to note There is no mobile phone signal here - it is so peaceful and quiet! However, there is free wifi everywhere so you can stay connected to the outside world if you need to.
